Hi,
I'm french and I just wanted to know if you have ever eard french rap in the US? I love american hip hop, but in France we do have very good rappers too. Is the language the reason why you do not listen to french rap? or do you just don't care about foreign artists?

well i think its fun to hear some songs, but if u dont understand the lyrics, at some point its useless to listen the song. cuz a song is not only about the beat, but about the lyrics too. so at some point for people that dont understand french, it must be kinda boring to lsiten to french hip hop and not understand whats actually said in it.

well thats my point of view.

oh and btw i'm french (not from France but still).

you can still enjoy the flow of a song:thumb:

^mm yeah thats true. but for me, i'd prefer listen to a song and understand the lyrics too, it's a plus for a song if u can understand the lyrics.

I always ask A friend of mine who's speakin french if the lyrics of french rap are compareble to american rap.
I also wonder if there is an artist such as Pac was. I can imagine that french rap got it's hero's - but somebody like Pac???

Thanks for your answers.
Many french people listen to us rappers and don't understand a word about what they're saying. They just listen to the beat and enjoy the flow.
But if you have the opportunity you should listen to french rappers. You should go on the site www.rap2k.com. You can watch videos of french and american rappers.

I can't relate to it, probably because I don't understand what they're saying. It makes me laugh when I see someone rap or dance and I don't understand the language. It looks so wack. Sometimes I wonder if people who don't understand english think the same thing.

Probably.

Music is an universal language. You don't need to understand lyrics if you can feel the emotions & the message carried by the song. That's my opinion.

I'am okay with Sapphir, i'm French too, i love US RAP ( more than French rap ) but in France we have good rappers like the group " I'AM " ( Imperial Asiatik Men ) or PSY4 de la rime.

In France, we doesn't have a greatest artist like Pac... Sometimes, i don't understand lyrics in Pac songs but, i go to: pacside.com or other french Pac websites and i see the lyrics ( pretty dope ).
