I'm considering getting a PC with a TV tuner and a DVD writer. I have a few questions.

Do you need a special TV/PC monitor to watch TV or will a PC monitor do just fine?

What would I actually plug my TV cable into on the back of my computer? Does the tuner have one of those 75 ohm connectors?

So if I record a show or movie to my hard drive and then I write it onto a DVD disc. How's the quality? Is it as good as a regular DVD Recorder hooked up to a TV can do?

(For those interested, it'll be a Dell package.)

you don't need a special monitor.
yes the cable will plug right in.
the quality depends on the tuner card. if it is a good card, yes the quality should be as good as a dvd recorder box, providing you get a good signal

Most TV Tuner cards have the standard RF and A/V inputs,so you don't have to worry about that.

As far as quality goes,it depends on the ripping method. Some software rips to MPEG,some rips to uncompressed AVI.So it really depends on the software.I would suggest you research the card and software on the net before you buy it.

Why not get a DVD recorder that you hook up to your TV? They are not that much more expensive than a TV Tuner card, and all you do is hook it up to the TV,insert blank DVD R media, press record, and done,it's recorded in DVD format.

With the TV Tuner card, you'd most likely have to re encode the ripped video into DVD format, and the shit will take time to process. You will also have to have lots of hard drive space.
