Anyone from Wales here? Anyone that has been in Wales? North Wales in particular, Wrexham? Glyndwr university?
It's not a place of choice for me but I have a good opportunity to be there, but I wonder if it's a good destination. I've never been there and I don't know anyone who have. I can't find many opinions on the internet so SH Britishmen are my last resort.
I like quiet places with vivid nature and such, judging by pictures Wales looks that way. But what about people there?
I'd go there for studies and to work on an EU project with other IT students from other European countries.
I'm just wondering about the destination because frankly, I'm between that and "apprenticeship" at IBM combined with an English course in Honolulu. I always wanted to visit Hawaii but the latter option would be much more expensive and apart from the place itself I have a better reason to go to Wales. I can also visit Hawaii next year. The project and the whole idea is cool, I'm just wondering about the place so I'd be grateful for any opinions - I have a few days to make up my mind and I ask because I'd feel bad postponing my Hawaii adventure if it turned out to be a letdown. Oh it'll be in July.

You're honestly having difficulty choosing Wales or Hawaii?

Dude. Wales sucks. Apart from Cardiff which is cool. But shit, even people who live in Wrexham and love it would rather be in Honolulu. Wrexham's not even a city, it's a town, and it's right on the border of England next to Liverpool. So basically it's just a shit part of England that happens to be on the Wales side of the border.

I vote you go to Hawaii.

It's not like it's only a matter of place. I'd love to go to Honolulu and if it was as simple as picking a place I'd definitely go there.
It's just that I can go there next year, while I have a one and only opportunity to go to Wales on these terms. A part of my trip would be funded by the university, actually I'd have to pay only for food, plane and extra activities like trips on weekends.
Studies and accommodation are almost free. I would work on a pretty cool project so I'd learn a lot and gain valuable experience.
Also I'd have to pay a lot of cash to go to Honolulu, basically spend most of my savings thus I'd be unable to go there next year. Both options are barely holidays as I'd have to work. So while I'd go to Hawaii if I declined the Wales offer I'd like to go to Wales if there's any hope for actually enjoying it :p and I don't mean parties. I guess I'm curious if there are decent people there, if Wales has any 'beauty' of some sort, places to see and enjoy.
The only thing that I'm afraid of is that it'll totally suck, that It'd be a waste of time. I think that it describes the context better.

I get what you're saying, but honestly, I would rather pay to be in Honolulu than GET paid to be in fucking Wrexham, seriously.

And like I said... Wrexham is only technically in Wales. It might as well be England. If you're interested in Wales as a country you'd pretty much have to travel another couple hours west to see anything Welsh. And if you wanted to see any cool part of England you'd have to travel a couple hours south-east.

Yeah I don't really know if I'm interested in Wales as a country since I don't know much about it yet. I only did a quick google image search and found decent sceneries that I like, but I doubt that whole Wales really looks like that. However it looks like a nice place to relax, enjoy some nature, take a rest from the daily life and stuff like that, and that's what I'm partially looking for. A visit to a place that isn't as crowded might suit me great.

But I'll have to think about it then. Still it seems much more appealing than being home. Might be an adventure or something.
I've been in England a few times long ago but only in big cities - especially London.
Have you ever been in Wrexham? Could you point out a few good and bad things about that place? It can't be all bad, right?

I can think of nothing interesting, good or bad. It's a small town. Former industrial area. Has a church and a small museum. Has a cinema. A swimming pool. Your average British small town shops.

Coming from Warsaw, I'd imagine you'd be bored shitless, TBH. It's the last kinda place I'd ever want to be.

I recall a hot Welsh gal posting on this board some time ago. Ive seen pictures of her in her panties (as have many members here). That being said, give her a good rogering and tell her this is from Flip and give her a hard thrust. Thats all I can tell you about Wales, forgive me.

PS: Go to Hawaii. Idiot.

I totally remember that. Didn't we have like a huge thread where ppl were advising her to be less slutty or something and she was trying to defend herself? I seem to remember that Pittsey was shitting on her pretty hard and it was funny. Damn, that must have been like 4 years ago at least.

Yeah. I made a bit of a dick of myself to be fair.

Anyway....

Like Casey says. Wales is a shit hole (No offence to welsh people). It's like a backwards England. Probably similar to Poland. ;)

Weather is shit. People are mean.

I have been to Cardiff many a time, and it is a good night out, and they have a PGA golf course. But apart from that..... It's very insular.

I vote for IBM or Hawaii. Do we get to vote?

Masta. Have you ever questioned why Wrexham sounds like rectum?

................Think about it...

Thanks for replies guys. For some reason I find Welsh sceneries very appealing though. I mean, they look like " shitholes" but very nice ones. Some just make me want to lay back and chill out on that grass out there.
You know, most pictures that I find on Google images look like these places are calm, relaxing and have a specific vibe of an old, little English village with little population.
I understand what you guys are saying but on another hand I'd like to spend some time in places like those:

It's nice, but you'd probably get tired of the sheep and houses made of leaves within 48 hours.

Haha, I don't know. I'd love to see those. I live in the city since.. always. Things like these are really appealing to me. You know, most of my greatest holidays took place in the biggest backwoods possible. With decent people and sceneries though, that's all I need.
Honolulu is just another city. Probably even louder. I'd love to see it but I can always go there next year, the only difference is that I will be 1 year older. While I probably wouldn't go to Wales if I decided not to take advantage of this opportunity.

But anyway I'm considering an option to go to Wales in July and Honolulu in August and September. I decided that August and September seems like a better time to visit Hawaii and the Wales option is 2nd to 30th July. At least a month in Wales sounds like a better idea than wasting time at home and it will not be expensive at all. Not to mention that it'd be a busy month anyway. Of course I like the idea of seeing a new place but even Wales-aside after all I want to work on that project. It might be cool and location is a secondary thing, and I can't pick location anyway. I can only choose not to go, which after all sounds like a worse option.

Wait, so you have the chance to do both? Why the hand-wringing, sir?

Well, I said that I can go to Hawaii next year since I can go there with my own savings whenever I have longer holidays. I just thought to go there this year. Yet a good opportunity came up - to go to Wales this year, to work on a project - a one and only chance. For more tech savvy people it's working on an advanced web application, with HTML5 and skilled people this might turn out interesting. While it's not my field I can use my skills to do cool things out there, learn new things and gain experience from working in an international project group.
I barely pay for anything other than food and potential trips :p
Most of all I'd go there to work on that project but I'd also have some spare time and that's the reason why I asked about Wales. Whether it's a terrible place or a quite decent one, if people are okay and most of all if I could spend my holidays in a cool way out there.
Since people mentioned that it's not a great place I started planning both trips so I'd have my whole summer abroad - Wales and then Hawaii. Just in case Wales turns out to be terrible I'd be able to go to Hawaii after that. But then I think that this might be an overkill and I'd have no means to do anything cool next year. Plus, both options are related to hard work and only some spare time.

Now I'm thinking that maybe I could go to Wales, then after I'd end with that project I could spend another month in England, go to Liverpool, Manchester then London and fly home from there. And Hawaii next year. I dunno now, lol. I have to think about it.

does Ireland get some bad press over in Poland, masta?

No, why? Usually Poles living in Ireland do though, and I'm not surprised ;) You know, some of the biggest assholes from here moved to Britain. I can only imagine that it sucks, especially for decent Poles living there.
