Just wondering, does anyone volunteer at all?

I've been doing a lot of it lately, I feel as if i'm so happy and I need to put positive energy back in cycle to keep the good karma going.

So, i'm a big sister. (I request a Black or Latina kid so I could relate to them better, got an Asian kid, wtf?)

I also volunteer at the local animal shelter, I loove animals. And I take in a foster puppy or two every now and then (since I have the space in my new place) and help introduce them to being loving animals ready for adoption.

I also am involved in several organizations that help immigrants become legal citizens.

Anyone else? What do you guys do?

Rukas has been trying to get me to do it with him. He volunteers at the RSPCA which is an animal shelter thing. He walks the dogs just before they are put down, plays with them and stuff like that. Sort of like a last wish.

He tries to get me to do it but I see it fucks with him a lot emotionally so I really dont want to, but they need more people so maybe. We'll see.

i do surf life saving in summer if i can be bothered. its pretty easy going, just sit on the beach all day and has a look at girls. this one time i had to help someone who was getting pulled out to sea. felt pretty cool.

Yeah. In other ways though. I do go to the Children's hospital every now and then and they let me take some kids out to play basketball and what not. AI was there last time, it was cool, he commended me so I was all happy.

But I live in townhomes and across the street are two big apartment complexes with parks and all that so about once a month my friends and I have big ass barbecues, all the little kids run over, lol sounds so ghetto but it aint. I don't volunteer so to say so much but I try to help out around where I live. Be friends with the kids in your community.

Awww, I bet. I hate high kill facilities. We try to foster the animals to make them more desirable as pets so that we can transfer them out of high kill facilities and get them adopted. I.E. when I foster dogs, they are also learning to interact with another dog, as well as cats. They learn to be either crate trained or house broken as well as basic commands. When a dog is already housebroken and gets along well with other pets, etc, it makes them more desirable to be adopted. Lots of people want living stuffed animals. :(

But yeah, I really hate the entire idea of putting the animals down but geeesh, there are soo many of them and just not enough families it seems. :(

I"m not one of those people who thinks "ghetto" = "wrong" so no worries, lol. But yeah that still sounds cool. Personally i'm not a big fan of the kiddies, hehehe. But all positive karma is good.

Lol I feel you on that but I wasn't talkin like ghetto where I live, more like a bad rap video with the cookout type shit, lol.

i wish i went to a ghetto cookout. we have a court BBQ at Christmas but thats pretty much just old people sitting drinking wine and me and a few mates drinking beers in a circle

So you're helping others for personal gain?

Kant would indeed find you immoral.
Most people do volunteer work because they want to do something positive, feeling good is just an added bonus. I don't see anything immoral in that.
Anyway I wanted to go to Africa or South America to teach English and maths but I couldn't afford it. Maybe next year.

But doing good JUST because you want that feel-good feeling is not right.

If you are doing good and not feeling good about it you got problems.

Do not argue with a philosopher. You will lose. And no, I'm not arrogant. I'm just your divine creator.

Doing good and as a by-product feeling good is fine.

But doing good for the sole purpose of feeling good is not.

Having sex with a monkey is fine. Having sex with Bob from the corner shop is not.

Now, run along and buy me some ice cream with ketchup.

Im a Volunteer for St. John Ambulance. I take care of kids and teach them things like First Aid. Im an assistant and will eventually take them to events such as Football matches and camps.

So it helps the kids get opportunities etc...

Theres a lot more to it than the above

You are doing good because you know others appreciate it. That's where the feel-good feeling comes from. You don't go in thinking "I want that feel-good feeling to come from outerspace". You go in thinking "I want to do something meaningful with my time".

...beirut...philosophy...fuck out this thread.

The fuck? Understand what I mean before you try to understand yourself.

Volunteering yourself to have sex with bi-standards while you are prostituting on a corner side walk does not count as "volunteering" or helping the community. But it can be looked upon as an attempt of contributing to the population.

Yeah, you keep saying that to yourself, racist scum.
