well, there's stuff for audio files, to convert them from AAC to MP3 and so forth, but i was wondering if there was a program that converted video files as well

i have a movie on my comp that is around 2 gigs...1.9 to be exact....i was wondering if i could shrink it down to atleast a gig, or a little over it, to save space, but without losing video quality....or too much of it...

let me know what you use

man, DIVX has some kinda limit....let me explain my problem again..

i got a south park season 3 on my comp which is 3.7 gigs all together..i wanna back the season up onto a disc which can only hld 700 mb..so i wanted soemthing that would make it smaller so i'd end up using maybe 2 cds, instead of 5....without losing a whole lotta video quality...DIVX doesnt seem to fit that description....unless im wrong..

why don't you just buy a dvd burner you can buy a new one online for as little as 37 dollars, and maybe less. and burn it with no compression and watch it in any dvd player. for real that is cheap. I paid 100 for mine when 8x was new. Now you can get 16x for less than half seriously what are you waiting for.

Virtualdub to compress....google for it, and then get the KLite codec pack (It's listed in tha FAQ)

Convert your vid to either Divx or Xvid, using the program.
