Vaping

Yeah, it seems the UK actually promotes vaping, from what I've heard, as an alternative to smoking.

The only issue is they limit your tanks to 2ml. But most pod systems are 2ml anyway.

I've been using the Uwell Caliburn now after being recommended it by the sub on Reddit. 2 ml now lasts me most of the day and the battery lasts me around 4 ml of juice, which is about two days. It's pretty incredible flavor and juice/battery life, I think this is what I needed all along. My other unit had more vapor and flavor production but it was a 6.5ml tank and I'd use nearly most of it in a day, which got expensive.

It also helps that I'm using nic salts lol. A few puffs and it hits me hard and I'm good for a lot longer than before.

6+ weeks on one pod. I'm impressed. Still have yet to finish one whole bottle of 30ml nic salt juice. The only thing cheaper than this set up is not vaping at all

Still using your same unit, Masta? Making your own juice too?

With all the shit happening in the US, it all might be gone come May when companies are required to get each juice flavor FDA certified. I think the same goes for unit vendors and each unit they make. And the cost is about a million per flavor and variant.

Might be time to DIY after all.

Yeah I am. Apparently, there's some knock-off Chinese shit that made people sick and killed a few, which is why I'm assuming this is happening.

I actually got the Nord Smok as a portable unit I leave home with because of how tiny it is. It's great for its size, although the battery life is fairly short in comparison to proper mods. Still has a 2ml tank though.

Yeah, I think the Nord and the Caliburn are in the same class and seem to be equally popular for people looking for portable pod systems.

I don't know about outside of the US, but the issues that put people in the hospital here were bootleg THC pods that were cut with vitamin E oil. I don't know if it was from China and I think some arrests were made of people in the US that were distributing these bootleg pods and also had a hand in making them dangerous. One instance was a kid and his mom, who was funding it, that got arrested.

The FDA has a deadline for this coming May to get all these flavors and units certified/approved and that day is inching closer and closer. The recent rulings that basically gutted companies like JUUL just expedited to process even further. I'm hoping there's a resolution by then but I doubt it and I'll have to make a dash for DIY stuff. Or just quit altogether. It's been 5 years of using various vape products and if I did it to quit tobacco, that's plenty of time to wean oneself off of nicotine.

It's really easy to make your own juice though. Took me less than an hour of reading to learn. It's very foolproof as the only thing you can mess up is the nicotine part. You get full control over your ratios to make liquid exactly like you want it, it's a fraction of the price, and you can actually make stuff that will taste better than store-bought juices.

That last part is what makes me skeptical. I'm sure some people can make something similar to mass produced juice, or even better, but I don't know the flavorings and ingredients in something labeled "Brain Freeze" from Naked.

I'll have to look it up eventually but I'm worried I make a liter of utter dog shit juice lol

My collection of juices is growing.

I now have:

- Coconut (VapeMate)
- Cola Bottles (IVG)
- Bubblegum (Vape Tonic)
- Blue Slush (Ohm Brew)
- Purple Rain (obv) (Dinner Lady Salts)
-
Purple Rain (V-Juice)
- Wham Star (kinda raspberry-ish) (Dr Salt)
- Cherry Cola (This was good... I ran out. Need to get more) (Ohm Brew)
- Vanilla (Pod Salt)
- Lime Lemonade (Pukka Juice)
- Pina Colada (This one sucks) (Dr Vapes)
- Asap Grape (Nasty Salt)
-
Sensation X (Ohm Brew)
-
Apple (Ohm Brew)
-
Mr White (Ohm Brew)

currently I have the Wham Star Raspberry mixed with the Coconut. It tastes real good.

Next up I'd like to try a Lemon/Mint combination and an Orange one.

Almost all of them are 50/50 ratio. I haven't experimented with different ratios yet.

You guys finding it hard to get things like coils or devices since the shipments from China have been stopped for 4+ months?

Can't find pods anywhere and the few B&M stores near me that do have them are charging well over 100% markup for the Caliburn pods. They're nearly $25 when I got them for just under $10 online and $13 in worst case scenario.

I got my supplies in November and looking at my box of coils I should be good if we're under complete lockdown for another.. decade or so. I also have 8 liters of VG and PG. That's over two gallons of vape juice. Working from home makes me vape all the time though.

lol I forgot you make your own juice. The juice supply is just fine, though. Prices have remained the same. It's just the pods and coils that seem to be giving people issues.

I just ordered a Smok Novo 2. Looking forward to trying it out.

I frequent the eCig sub on Reddit and Smok seemed to get shat on about a year or two ago, because of QC issues and some coils arriving DOA. But I also still see people talking about their Nords or Novos quite a bit as if nothing was wrong.

I guess they all have a chance of arriving as duds, but I never understood the hate Smok got on those subs. Maybe a very vocal minority that made it seems worse than what it was.

I have the Smok Nord at work (or had, back in the old days when I'd work from the office). It's really great for a very tiny little vape. It gives you a really proper vaping experience that's not far off from a large mod, with the main negative being its low battery capacity and tank capacity. If you don't vape much and just want something tiny enough to always be with you, it's perfect as long as you have a charger and some liquid around on your stops.

Just ordered one. I read good reviews too.

It's good but the hype seems to have died down from 1.5 years ago. Still, I have owned mine for about 11 months and it is still chugging along just fine. The unit is, obviously the pods get switched every 3 weeks. I think Uwell's QC has gone down a bit or they knew the quality they had a year ago where their pods would easily last a month, but now mine do go bum in about half the time as they used to. Still, 2-3 weeks is solid but my first one ever last 6 months and then just went down ever so slightly with each pod afterwards.

Just doing a random check-in. Still making your own juice, masta? How's the Caliburn, Casey?

Oh yes I definitely am. Can't even vape the store stuff anymore since I can mix my own liquids exactly as I like them. The negative is I chain vape when I'm home now.. I just have so much great liquid for so cheap, and I'm home quite a lot since I work from home. I still use the iStick Pico at home I got in 2016 or so, it's an amazing little mod that stood the test of time better than I could have imagined.

I forget, do you make freebase or nic salts?
