How do you get programs like Fruity Loops to recognize a USB keyboard controller?

have no idea...a standard usb keyboard should be fine if your keyboard is not standard then its incompatible. try downloading drivers for your keyboard from the manufactures website if any and then give it another try.

We bought a MIDI cable, problem solved.

it should have been recognised by the USB connection, unless you are running less than XP. but, good to hear everything worked out

^Nah it's XP, the computer recognized it, but I couldn't find a way for FL to acknowledge it's existence.
