I was watching a news program last night and they were talking about something rather scary. Apparently there is a website called locatecell.com where, if you know someone's cellphone number and have $100 to spare, you can get the complete phone records of anyone in America. The way it works is you go to this website and enter in the number you want the record of and your email address. You are charged a $100 fee. Within 1 to 4 hours you will recieve an email containing the complete phone record of the number you entered, including all ingoing and outgoing calls. Some of the cell phone companies have caught wind of this and are taking legal action against the site, including Cingular. Unfortunately i was unable to find an article to link to for proof, but there is a video link at cnn.com. So be careful who you give your cell phone number to!

it could be used for tons of things. If you're in a gang, for example, other gang members can do this to check your records to see if you've been talking to the police on your cell phone. Crazy girlfriends or obsessive boyfriends can monitor their partner's calls, your boss can find out if you've been talking to any of your competitors, the list goes on and on

he is right, but all that stuff took knowledge and a lot of legwork to do. With this, all you need is a computer, access to the internet, someone's cell number and $100, so anyone can do it. You don't find it a threat to your privacy that anyone can see who you've been talking to?
but now that it is so easy to do that you think they wont? if they have suspicion that one of the members might be a snitch, that's a good way to find out.
in an hour or less? word does get around, but you can't always trust someone's word. This can be used to verify that word however. either way my point is that there are about a million ways this information can be used.

well this is fairly new, so of course it didn't go on before. All that i'm saying is that if you thought someone was snitching on you, don't you think this would be a good way to find out? I didn't want to get into an argument about gangs tho, it was an example that just popped into my head thats all. I can honestly say i have no experience with LA street gangs, so i wouldn't know.

just numbers of all outgoing and incoming calls. The phone company doesn't record your conversations so there would be no record of that
