Who are you? Irelands spokesman? I'm sure you can't be, but if you are, can you get the Republic and Northen Ireland to make peace.

The Republic and the North are at peace. It's the factions within which aren't.

Nothing would please me more alas I doubt it's going to happen for the forseeable future.

Not until the government let Ireland run itself. Which is probably the best idea. but until everyone in the North agrees that is the best idea, it isn't going to happen.

And it's weird that you mentioned Hibs because Hearts (a club with no real Protestant roots) seem to becoming ever more Protestant which I think is just a reaction to Hibs history.

It is and its fuckin unbelievable.the bnp were at tynecastle for the last game against rangers and theres been a few loyalist hearts websites over the last while

That's the crux of the problem right there. Since we (the Republic) have become independent we've developed an economy which is among the strongest in the world (for our size) and we have complete religious toleration. Up North they are, unfortunately, still living in the past. Both communities have a great distrust of each other and that is something which may take generations to bridge. The Unionists simply don't accept that they are Irish and use their Protestantism to reinforece their "Britishness" failing to realise that their southern cousins gave up such ideas and embraced their Irish roots many years ago. When they come to realise they are in fact Irish not British things may improve but alas at the moment it looks like a forlorn hope.

Better late than never.

When I said the Irish I was talking the Republicans & I said they would've rejected you because you said you were embarassed & basically, if you're not cheering for Celtic, you may as weel not be Irish.

The same actually can't be said for N. Irish for like someone (Rosco?) said earlier, people jumped on the Rangers bandwagon a little later & thus their supports in Northern Ireland isn't as conclusive as that of Celtic in Ireland.

Anyways, this thread is still Celtic. (the culture that is)

Not all Irish support Celtic. They have the second highest population of man u supporters outside London.

Yeah I made that up, but it could be true, there is a lot.
