Anyone following this? Semi's tonight. Holland - England and Serbia - Belgium.

I'd like to see a Holland - Belgium final. IMO the best two teams in this tourney. The Italians were weak on defence, in very un-Italian style. The English are, kind of stale. Tactically not good.

The Serbians kind of surprised me. I only saw part of their match against England, in which they weren't brilliant but by then they had already qualified so it's not really a good measuring point. No, the Belgians are going to have a toughy on this one tonight.

They do have Vertonghen, Vermaelen, Martens. Plenty of skilled young players in the squad. The Red Devils are livening up again.

If we are talking about U21 now....i read, one or two days ago, that Van Bommel wants to play for the dutch U21 in the olymplic games 08. Lol, kinda funny if you ask me. A 30+ old man playing for a U21.

But they are allowed to play 3 players over the age of 21 for the olympics.

I remember Bebeto was playing for Brazil's u21 team back in the 1996 Olympics i think.He was around 30 at the time.

Are those player i listed on the Belgium u21 team or if a player plays for the senior team they cant play for the u21 team anymore.

I tell you what. That Royston (sp) Drenthe is quality. Not sure what hes like for his club team though, but every cross he puts in finds his man.

He currently plays for Feyenoord, but hasnt been able to excel there as he does here, but that's because Feyenoord has had a very poor season. They lack quality players, organization etc. So it puts a lot of pressure on the squad in matches.


Bommel wants to go to Peking because he still has bad relationship with v. Basten. So as long as he isnt playing for the "real" Oranje, he wants to play with the U21's. And why not? Most of those guys are 21 or a tad older. The only difference is experience.

C'mon, its called U21 for a reason. If they allow three players being older than 21 they should draw a line at 24 or 25.

But they are the rules.Its always been like that u21 and 3(i think) senior players.Argentina won it the last time.Robeto Ayala,Gabriel Heinze and Kily Gonzalez were in the squad.
