UK Terrorist Threat

Quick Question....

How does killing (or attempting to) 100's or 1000's of people stregthen their position or weaken an American, or British government?

Especially if the war is over oil, as is specualted often.

Sorry if i'm way off base here, but I don't think it's meant to strength or weaken the American or British government at all. I think it's meant to do exactly what the name implies.. cause terror. It creates this heightened sense of alertness for the government and it frightens the hell out of a lot of the citizens. So it does two things major things. It shows possible recruits how "strong" they are so to speak because they've managed to infiltrate some of the "top countries" so to speak in the Western World. It also builds up a lack of trust/faith in the citizens in their own governments and in the governments ability to protect them. Not only that, but these are a few people attacking major countries, not some rinky dink third world place that no one would really take notice but I mean it's New York in the States and London in the UK, that has to be a major slap in the face for both governments. It's really just has to be pissing them off something fierce.

Inregards to an Islamic state... This wasn't my opinion or my theory... I am just repeating what an "ex"-extremist has said. And what his reasons, and that of his peers are for joining the terrorist cells.....

And I don't agree with the Uk's foreign policy....

All I know is that my working life is now a nightmare and will be for the near future.... Maybe if the UK strengthened it's Immigration policy this problem would be reduced.... 99% of the Terrorists are UK citizens and 99% were immigrants from the last 10 years, or offspring of Immigrants....

That's the same thing people are saying here, but it sucks because Americans mostly want to kick out Latino citizens. They want to strengthen the immigration policy aka kick out Mexicans, Dominicans, Peruanos, pretty much anyone from South/Central America. But we aren't the ones blowing shit up. When in the last time you heard of a Mexican inspired car bomb or a Dominican running a plane into a building? They're so busy trying to kick us out of the country that immigrants are coming into America from all of these other countries and driving planes into shit.

well it seems the issue in America isn't simply with Latino immigrants, but illegal Latino immigrants. i don't know about all this "let's build a wall" bullshit over there, but i can understand the issue people have with coming into the country illegally, especially when there are millions of immigrants in America (including yourself syn) that came and became citizens the legal way. but this isn't the place for that topic i guess.

i agree with your assessment on terrorism tho. it is what the name implies, a way to terrorize citizens, and also cause them to have a lack of trust in their government's ability to protect them. but i also agree with Pittsey, i fail to understand how killing thousands of people will strengthen their position, or do anything but turn even more people against them.

Honestly and this is going to sound harsh but I really don't give a fuck what you or anyone else thinks about "illegal" immigrants, especially someone who can't possibly identify with the situation. No person who wants to better themselves and find a way to simply support themselves and their families is "illegal" What in the hell ever happened to fucking human rights? Shouldn't all people have the right to eat, drink clean water, earn an income and be free of curable diseases?! You aren't a citizen here so you don't deserve to live? Fuck that bullshit. If America wasn't constantly raping these other countries of their natural resources then perhaps their citizens would not have to come here for a better way of life. America is so damn grimey that currently Mexico owes the USA water.. what the fuck is that about? You're going to charge the damn country for clean water? Ugh! And you are right, this is off topic.[/end vent]

As for your other point.
Sure, it turns American or British citizens against them but think of all the brownie points they get with their comrades by attacking some of the most powerful countries in the world. Makes our countries look pretty weak in comparison to these small timers who're constantly causing chaos, havoc and taking innocent lives.

well obviously this is a touchy subject for you, so i'm not going to push it much further, but i have 3 things to add. first, even though you have strong opinions on the subject, don't discredit everyone else's opinion on it by saying you don't give a fuck what other people think, their opinions are just as valid as yours, even if you think theirs is the wrong opinion. second, just because i'm not an immigrant or an American citizen and can't "identify" with the situation does not mean i can't possibly understand the issue, that is a pretty ignorant position, like saying that unless you're a politician you can't have an opinion on politics. bullshit.

and third and most importantly, countries like America have immigration laws for a reason. i can understand people wanting to better their lives, but could you imagine what would happen if America, or any country for that matter, simply opened their doors and allowed anyone to come in with no legal checks or balances to stop it? the economy simply could not handle the influx of citizens, and in a few years America would be in the same position the countries these people left are in, poor and overcrowded. not to mention the fact that without the legal checks, there would be no way to keep the criminal element out. the idea that a country should just let anyone in is ridiculous, and is the reason there are immigration laws in the first place. maybe there should be another thread opened based on this topic, because i have more to say but i don't want to hijack this thread any more than it already has been.

I'd respond but again, it's a heated issue for me. On the outside looking in... it's easy to say what's right and what's wrong. Surely laws should be in place but they aren't fair the way they should be. No, your opinion isn't invalid because you aren't an immigrant or American, however, until you see people deported who are citizens, until you see kids snatched out of their moms hands and left on the streets crying because the mom forgot her wallet while walking to a friends house and now she's getting deported, until you see schools, grocery stores and malls raided with people being treated worst than people would allow animals to be treated... citizens or not. You can't make a valid point IMO because i've been there and I know how the system works. I volunteer at programs to help people get their citizenship and it's not fair. Doesn't matter if you pass a test, doesn't matter if you have a job, doesn't matter if you have a sponsor.. if you're Latino you're 90% less likely to get legal citizenship granted to you as opposed to someone who's something...anything else.

Sorry, this is the last post about this. It's off topic. :(

well i will agree that the laws are unfair, and need to be changed, you are 100% correct on that. building a wall and throwing people out won't solve anything. and we have major issues with immigration laws up here in Canada as well, so it's not as though i haven't seen these things you mention. it seemed to me that you were almost advocating that they should let anyone in no matter what, and i now see that was not your stance, so it's my bad for coming at you like that. you made your point in a much better way the second time around and i see what you meant much more clearly now.
