Why is Tupac Underrated? I think the reason he is underated as a rapper is because he was more than a rapper. Think about it.... Listen to his interviews he was smarter than any rapper. Look at the stuff he was talking about, he was on some deep shit, and if you aint on some of that shit, u aint going to know what he's talking about. It seems like the only thing people can say is that " his lyrics weren't good, his rymes, wordplay. etc. Damn...he didn't have time to worry about that, MAYBE IF HE TOOK 6 or 7 months on one album. He would have noticed all that, but the point is HE DIDN'T and he still is THE BEST. He is always number 1 in all magazines, TV SHOWS. He made rap how it is today. So when you really think about the things 2pac accomplished in his short life, Do you think he is overrated or underrated? about 5 years in the industry and look at what he did, other rappers would have about how many albums in 5 years? how many movies? NEXT TIME U SEE UR FAVORITE RAPPER Advertising a new album, count how many months before it actually comes out, and think. SO, how can Pac be overrated when he did more in about 5 years then these rappers do their who career. HOW did he find time, court cases, movies, life: partying, hoes, family, just think about it. Dude did a lot in so little time and you call him overrated. THINK ABOUT IT. Ass a matter of fact take a listen to Makaveli, (espically Against all odds) and Me Against the World. Then come holla at me.

i think it is hard to say he is underated, like you said, he is #1 on most lists, and most shows having to do with rap. the easiest way to say is name another rapper will be as relevant as Pac is now, almost 9 years after his death. Pac is still listened too, and unreleased stuff is still anticipated to the point the bootleggers are killing is album sales, and the labels are watering down his music just to get something out for the people to bump. I can't think of another rapper who i will still be bumpin on a regular basis almost a decade after they are gone. we easily lost not the best lyricist, not the rapper with the best flow, not a lot of things, but we did lose the most complete artist that has ever blessed the mic.

To be a good rapper, you need the skills (lyrics, rhymes, wordplay). If there are rappers out there who have better skills, then that means that he's not the best rapper.
"He didn't have the time to worry about it" is a lame excuse that only Tupac could get by with.
He's number 1 in magazines and TV shows. So is 50 Cent.
He made rap how it is today. I agree, he has a big influence on rappers of today. But I gotta ask you, are all of his influences positive? He has no negative influences on hip hop? And is he the only one to have this kind of influence?
He recorded a lot of songs so that makes him the best right? He was in movies so that makes him the best right? He had an admirable work ethic so that makes him the best rapper right? He found time between court cases so that makes him the best rapper right?
