I figured I'd make this list in this forum, I included rap, rock, & r&b in my list, just a list I decided to try to make at 3:00 in the morning. I discounted a lot of my favorite groups/bands/rappers who I love, but never thought made a GREAT album, like Queen, Green Day, E-40, Gap Band, etc. Here's my list (in no order, I couldn't even begin to think which ones were better than others):
2Pac-Me Against the World ('Pac at his most introspective)
Anita Baker-Rapture (Smoothest female R&B album ever made)
Blackstreet-Another Level (New Jack that was actually good)
Bone Thugs N' Harmony-E. 1999 Eternal (Eerie atmosphere)
Brotha Lynch Hung-Season of da Siccness (Still disturbing)
D'Angelo-Voodoo (Best R&B record of the last decade)
DJ Quik-Safe & Sound (Quik at his P-funkiest)
DJ Quik-Rhythm-al-ism (Probably the best Quik record, musically)
Guns N' Roses-Appetite For Destruction (Best debut album EVER)
Jane's Addiction-Ritual de lo Habitual (Epic feel, rare nowadays)
Marvin Gaye-I Want You (Marvin's forgotten masterpiece)
Murder Was the Case (soundtrack) (Possibly Death Row at it's peak)
The Presidents of the United States of America-s/t (Seattle faves)
Prince & the Revolution-Purple Rain (Prince's most cohesive record)
Rick James-Street Songs (Remember him for music, not Chappelle)
Roger-The Many Facets of... (So Ruff, So Tuff is his best work)
Sly & the Family Stone-Stand! (Still underrated, even today)
Stevie Wonder-Talking Book (Stevie's first major breakthrough)
Sublime-s/t (Brad's swan song still rocks HARD)
Tech N9ne-Anghellic (Best concept record of the last 20 years)
Tony Toni Tone-House of Music (Great classic feel)
A Tribe Called Quest-The Low End Theory (Flows together perfectly)
Van Morrison-Moondance (Memories of my childhood...)
Warren G-Regulate...G Funk Era (Better than Snoop & Dre's 1st, IMO)
Westside Connection-Bow Down (What a West record should be)
2Pac-Me Against the World ('Pac at his most introspective)
