I was wondering if anyone could give me information on both. I'm trying to figure out what's better for me because I need it bad.

i have tivo and the only advantage of DVR that i can possibly think of is that you get digital cable, with premium channels (i think that's how you get DVR), whereas with tivo, you can do it with basic cable, as i do (but you can also do it with digital cable).

HD-DVR owns all you stupid n00b. Does TIVO record HD programming? Can TIVO record more than one show at once at the same time? The TIVO box cost money, the HD-DVR is free.

There are HD-Tivo's now. They cost a fortune though. That's fine though because I'm not looking really to record from my HD Channels because most of the good programming I want to record is from my favorite channels that aren't in HD yet. I believe TiVos record more than one channel at a time, but I'm not sure. Right now at Best Buy you can get the non-HD Tivo for free with the subscription.

My question is this...does the DVR have a big hard drive? And does it allow me to do all that TiVo does in the sense that I start selecting to record show throughout the day while I'm out and overtime it starts asking me if I want to record a certain show because it's along the lines of the other shows I record..?

we have sky plus/sky hd, i think it hold 40 hours of recording and can record multiple shows at the same time. only thing is it cost about £100 for a sky plus box where a standard box is free, and also you pay a £10/month subscription for skyplus or skyhd
