The Ghetto (M40)
Havent been here in ages as i have just been at my mums house for the past few months... but...

I was havin a major argument with a couple of friends... so i want your opinons on the subject...

What are your ideas of the terms "Thugs" and "Gangsters"... Do you think they are the same or different...and how are they different...?

I dont want no, funny fu*ker coming on here regurgitating the oxford dictionary... or any other dictionary!... personal opinions only! :thumb:

Thugs, I think are guys who are kinda cocky and role on their own, oblivious to what other ppl think or say, they don't care.

Gangstas are lames who role with a crew and need that group of people to back them up in all of their daily habits. Their crew has to okay it first.

Thugs - are lames who role with a crew and need that group of people to back them up in all of their daily habits, roll with a crew becuz they cant fight.

Gangsters = Al Capone, Pablo Escobar, John Gotti, etc.

It's one big grey area n it depends on how u interpret things.

There r different meanings, like dictionary meanins or how we define things in our contexts.

N also, r there such things as fake gangstas n thugs? For example, let's say this.

Let's say a kid in a rich neighborhood does drugs, commits crimes and etc. Is he a thug or not? U can't say sumone is fake if u don't kno their intentions. So he could do it becuz he gets these impulses as a kleptomaniac or just like kids in tha hood, he's curious n wants to try drugs n all that stuff. So is he a thug or is he fake?

Or let's say rich kids in a neighborhood start a gang. A gang is a gang, whether in tha hood or tha burbs. But r they fake gangstas? They're still gangstas cuz they r in a gang.

But even in tha hood, not everyone in a gang is hard or real. There r alot of shady characters, fakes n cowards in tha hood that try to roll in gangs. N sum r real, maybe findin it "necessary" to join a gang in order to provide a means of survival.

Then u hav ppl in tha hood, that rn't in gangs that commit crimes, so they're thugs right? That's wat ppl like to define em as, but that's up to each person to judge.

But then let's say sumone in tha hood, that struggles but that tries to stay away from drugs n tries not to commit crimes n tries to come up in a legit way. But he's all bout himself, n he holds it down, n don't let no one step all over him n still has his respect on tha streets. Is he a thug cuz he from tha hood or is he a good kid cause he does not partake in crime? Or let's compare tha suburban kid that takes part in crimes n compare him wit tha good kid from tha hood. Who's tha thug in that comparison?

So I believe it to b that it's just how one interprets it, there is no guideline, it's all grey area. Ppl like to distinct two worlds as well from thugs n suburban kids. I believe it's not a boundary that separates tha 2 as tha worlds overlap.

I maintain this thinkin cuz I liv n grew up in 2 different "hood". I've almost been a part of a gang at a younger n dumber age, n took part in alot of crimes n juvenile delinquency. But then in high school, I cleaned up my act n tried to get myself on a straight path tho I still had respect in tha streets. But now I attend college in a very rich area in a different city. N it's wierd how two places in California can b so different but b so similar.

Ppl r tha same no matter wat. As cliche as it sounds, it's very tru. Both tha ghetto n tha suburbs, u hav ur peeps that try to act hard, ur real friendly peeps, n just everyone in between. N whether in tha burbs or tha ghetto, ppl struggle, more or less. Ppl hav alot of similar psychological pressures even tho they economically might b different. So I feel there's a big grey area in this world than just to cast everyhtin in black n white.

My bad for goin off on tha tangent, hahaha. I just always like to address stuff like this, cuz I'm intrigued by how ppl work in all different environments.

Peace!

thugs to me are someone who do the work on their own, they need little help from anyone else and can fight on their own. gangstas are people who roll in gangs and do everything in a group. example: the little brats who jump people and cant fight on their own.

altho most mafioso's are concidered "gangsters" or gangsta, they where also called "thugs"... its pretty much the same thing.. just your preference of word... both commits crimes so really whats the difference?

who cares if they need group... they gonna cause trouble no matter what

we'll back in the old dayz the thugs worked for the gangsters.in other words the thugs were henchmen,or man for hire.they did the gangsta's lil work like mop up niccaz who didnt pay for protection,or pay at all.the gangsta's did the real messy shit like take on crime familys and run the drug cartels.over da years the terms was re-aranged to fit a persons need i.e. tupac.at of these 2 names thou it would be better to be called a "BOSS" yadadaddadadadadadaddadadadaddadadamean!!!!

Seems like your talking more about a soldier. But a soldier is a lot like a thug if you think about it.
