Hiking a 14er is so damn fun. Going from basically sea level to that you're going to struggle. Are you going to hang out up there for a day or two before you go up?

A little over a year. I went there planning to stay in Phuket but it actually felt a bit too trashy to stay long-term, so I went to Chiang Mai and really loved it there, despite the fact there aren't any beaches.

Coming back is definitely a tempting choice, since at this point the down payment towards an average home in Vancouver/Seattle alone could easily buy you 10 years of very comfortable life in Thailand instead, even more if you're splitting expenses with your partner. Add the weather, great food and how interesting living there is, and I somehow feel like I'm missing out by not being there, even though I really like it in Vancouver. On the flipside, as a white dude, you never truly belong in Thailand. Life is good, people are nice, but you are always an outsider and it can feel isolating. It sucks to have to choose between completely different lifestyles (and places with largely opposite pros and cons), and commit to one though.

I'm actually surprised that you've moved from Seattle to Nevada and aren't missing PNW. I mean, it's a perfect place to escape the rain, that's for sure.

I could've sworn we had a thread about movies and TV shows we were watching or have watched that were good, but I can't find it in the Entertainment section.

I watched The Lion King remake the other night. I have only seen the original once when it first came out and never saw it again. There was a Lion King 2 that was straight to DVD and my sister had that growing up 20 years ago and I watched that a few times. It's incredible how much I forgot or just simply didn't pick up on back then but do now.

I also never watched Toy Story 3 or 4. I saw three a few months back and 4 this past week. I think I liked 4 more than 3. Toy Story 2>4>1>3. Fight me.

I'm debating watching The Wire. Well, not debating whether to or not, but how to. I stopped getting HBO Now and didn't sign up for HBO Max, which is where The Wire is. It used to be available on Amazon Prime streaming but since HBO Max started up I think the rights expired with Amazon and were not renewed.

I've heard HBO's servers blow and that their video quality is capped at 720p. At least it was on HBO Now, I'm not sure about Max. So either I watch it in 720p and get HBO Max. Or I pirate all 100GB of it in BluRay quality. Or I buy the series and hope I enjoy it?

I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it but is it worth spending like $50+ for the UHD variant of all five seasons? There are very few shows I'm watched from start to finish and then still considered purchasing the series, either digitally or on DVD.

It is worth buying. The wire is hands down the best tv show ever made, to the point there is nothing which even comes close to being on the same level.

If you are cheap, download it. If you don't care about $100, buy it.

I was super surprised that one of those guys is likely the guy who killed Stretch, 2pac's old buddy. They actually said he was the main suspect in that case.

I also had no clue that JMJ's murder was so savage.
