I watched the first 4-5 episodes when it first came out and I stopped. I thought it lacked good writing, especially the corny shit that came out of kate mara's mouth (i just drank a long island iced tea, what are you doing?). from what i can tell via social media, it has succeeded in the "holy shit what happens next?" type of television that grips the retards (the walking dead, too) but other than that it's empty. Also his southern accent is so fucking annoying goddamn.
I'm trying to get my hands on subtitled Borgen. It seems only torrents have it. Now apparently that's a good political TV show.

I don't see anything wrong with suspense writing. Haven't many of the greatest TV shows had some sort of suspense to it? I think it was you that was a big fan of The Wire. I haven't seen it, but there's no suspense in there? I can't watch shows like Law and Order and similar shows people watch as they eat and think they're detectives afterwards just for watching. That acting, to me, is fake and forced and cheesy.
To each their own. I enjoy TWD and BB, which also had plenty of suspense in it. What would be a more sophisticated show that's on TV now and that you watch?
On a side note, Veep starts back up in a month, or so, last I checked. That would make two shows in political settings that get me hooked. I hate politics, but both these shows are on opposite sides of spectrum and really do a good job, I feel.

I think there are good things about HoC. I think you need more than 4 episodes to get to it, though. I think his plan hatches slowly and he stays ahead of his opponents much like Walter White did in Breaking Bad.

I didn't find House of Cards suspenseful. lol. I thought it was slow moving. I like it.
I like True Detective too. Not really a fan of The Walking Dead.

Last night's TWD was one of the most action-packed episodes I've seen in all four seasons. The prison season was the absolute worst. I think they've changed writers or producers or something. It's better now.

I have stopped torrenting my TV shows the past two months. There are a few users on warez-bb that upload three different qualities of a show and I usually get the 720p. These top-uploaders use a site called BillionUploads, or something like that, and I get my shows in minutes. The hour long shows are a bit longer, but still beat torrents. I download as soon as they are released, so that favors upload sites over torrents because of the whole peers thing.
Still, I don't want torrent traffic showing up on Comcast, if I can help it.
