Anyone watch this?

I love a lot of Shane Meadows films. And "This Is England", although not his best work, is his most popular. Anyone seen the film? And anyone seen the 4 part TV special that finished last week?

It might not cross over to the States, as it doesn't translate 100% to us southerners... Who the fuck dressed and spoke like that. And the birds, I get a little bit of bile in my mouth everytime they are on screen. But it's gritty and hard hitting. Good stuff as usual...

Of course, great film. I mentioned that in that thread about what people think Britain is like. I'm a fan of Meadows' work. Some of it is hard to find online. I really liked Dead Man's Shoes. Somerstown was good too. I felt he was trying to be contemporary and tackle the issues prevalent in society today, like the clash of immigrants and "natives". Too bad it seemed really low-budget. The chick was hot though.

Mike Leigh's Naked is by far my favorite British film though.

I haven't seen the show. I couldn't find a DL of Room For Romeo Brass when I was looking for it. I'll try again one of these days.

The show is a 4 hour extension of the film. Revolving around Lol now rather than Sean though... Some might say it's better than the film. It's a few years later in 1986. And it is about the gang around the time of the Mexico 86 WC. Some nice footage of the England Team and Sir Bobby.
