couldn't find any threads about this excellent hbo series. i recieved season three on dvd just now, i already own seasons one and two. i'm waiting for four to get a dvd release. i dunno how long the season's been running for over in the states or if it's done, i just know it leaked before it aired.
also i am told they are working on season 5.
anyway, let's, for me, not spoil anything and rather just talk about how great the show is, and what aspects of the show you like. in fact, if you spoil it for me, i will ban you. that goes for you too, sigh/kareem/<insert name of person who knows me and thinks he can disobey my rules>. ;x
so like i said, i think the show is excellent. first of all, i like how it's realistic. example: in season one when bubbs' friend (the guy from "kids") catches a beatdown for trying to fuck with the dealers, for a second there it actually looks like d'angelo is gonna let him go and let this (that) serve as a warning. you are introduced to the character, and although he's a lowlife dopefiend, you obviously feel empathy for the character. if only a little. my point is on a normal, "commercial" tv show you'd expect the dealers to spare him this once. in the real world however, they'd probably just take him a few blocks down and shoot him lol. so i love that it catches you a little off-guard like that. although i said i haven't seen season 3, i have seen one episode from it. the one where stringer is watching a kid get beat and eventually batted. there's just a bunch of raw, real scenes that make you raise your eyebrow or takes you by surprise. the show is just real, that's the best way i know to put my point across, it's just real and really, really cool.
thank you!
