Just thinkin... The british are always gettin slated by the european media about how we apparantly consume the most alcohol (in the EU... at least i think thats right) and that we are a nation of binge drinkers?....

Like this is a bad thing?... Im getting ready to go out and get absolutley bladdered in the city centre tonight, like i do most fridays, saturdays and and sunday afternoons... I work my ass off all week... from 8 am till 5:30 pm... i think i should be allowed to wind down and get pissed without being frowned upon...

Is this this just a british thing... or is this common throughout the world?... because the amount of stick we get for it... its unbelievable...

umm i think its safe to say that binge drinking is americas real national pastime....

And im gonna add, in my health class in HS 2 years ago, my teacher would tell us that european countries have lower or no drikning ages because they drink responsibly. I told her thats impossible

do you have to get wasted to wind down after a hard week?...

I think the UK has the youngest drinkers tho, kids start drinking at a much younger age than most other countries and that could have something to do with it

I think it's daft to be honest. The UK has the worst binge drinking problem in Europe. It's not that we drink a lot becuase other countries acutally consume more units per day on average. It's just that there's a culture of lets get out and get totally wasted. The amount of crime and health related issues that would be cut down is people drank reponsibly is immense. I mean, on the continent because they actually know how to enjoy the drink and not make it an objective to get wasted means they have alcohol in places like McDonalds. I could never imagine that happening in the UK.

Nothing is wrong with drinking after a long week. I usually drink on weekends also, something during the week i go to a pub and have a drink with some friends.

Well, I don't try to get wasted to the point where I drop and puke. I'll have a drink or 2, or i'll get a lil light headed, but that's it. The light headedness/tipsyness I leave it to the weekend.

See I understand that, drinking socially. BUt drinking so you don't know your head from your ass and then cliaming you had a great weekend on the basis of you not remembering anything makes little sense to me.
