oil rigs in the gulf of mexico were hit by katrina. it stops the production of oil from those rigs. some have to be rebuilt or have repairs done before the start drilling again.

Also some of the nations largest oil refineries are located in louisiana. not to mention a large majority of crude oil comes in through new orleans.

Holland is looking up towards 1 euro 50 for a liter regular. That gives at 1.253 USD for a Euro the price of 7 dollars plus here.
