The Official Show Your Tattoos Thread

Im getting another tat later today......this one is going to be HUGE (even bigger than my Pac tat, in a way), and its going to take two sessions (about 3 hrs each) to complete it. Its gonna be put on my left shoulder and bicep, and will cover pretty much the top of my arm.

Its gonna be a crown with two wings on it and a pair of serpents, with the word "Liberty" above it. Below the crown with will be two swords crossed, with vines going up around them and the crown. Below that, it will say "or Death".

Unlike all my other tats which are done in black, this one will be in COLOR. I love black ink but I want some variety, and this is the type of tat that will look far too plain if done in black ink only. The text will be red, with a black outline, and the serpents and vines will be various shades of green. Swords will have golden handles and silver blades. Im undecided on what color the crown will be. I have time though, because im just getting the outline for now, and will probably just have the swords and vines colored in for now. The crown and text will be filled in on the second session. I notice most people into hip hop and hip hop artists themselves prefer black ink tattoos over colored ones, but in the hands of a good artist, colored tattoos can be something INCREDIBLE. Personally I like both, and it all depends on the type of tattoo you are getting. For the one im getting, color is most definatly preferable to black. Black would be the choice if doing a portrait, simple text, or a tribal design.

This is sort of a custom concept tat that I came up with. The crown with wings represents the Liberty part, and the crossed swords represents the Death part.

Damn at the rate im going, im gonna have almost as many tats as 50 or Banks, lol. I just got my first tat a year ago and now im about to get my 5th. Shit is VERY addicting.

Tattoo's are definately addictive. Im still thinking of the perfect design for my next one.

These pics got me wondering. I can't tell sometimes with the blue/black thing on light skinned people. Is dark blue a popular color that a lot of people ask for or does the black ink just turn bluish after it fades and shit?

Mine actually look black when you see them in real light. But look green/blue in pics and under artificial light. The one on my back needs touching up.

You also have to remember, the color of ink is different at EVERY tattoo place. One tattoo parlors red ink, for example, will be slightly different from the red ink of another tattoo parlor.

Anyway, blue is a semi-popular color (especially because it is the least likely to fade, besides black) but usually it is done with other colors. If you see a tattoo that looks black, it most likely is. But again, some black ink is darker then others. The tat on my forearm is black ink, but is slightly a lighter shade then all my other black tats that were done at a different place. My Tupac tat was done with two different shades of black.....regular black ink and 40% black ink (a light shade of black used to give shading to portraits or texture effect to objects).

People with very light skin are usually much easier to tattoo then someone with dark skin, because almost any color will stand out very well. Eminem's tattoos obviously stand out much more than 50's do, for example.

I feel like resurrecting this thread. I want to get a tattoo of Kurt Cobain and Tupac next, probably on my arm. Trying to find the right pictures though.

Yeah an whats the writing gonna say?

The problem with getting tatoos at your age is, what you think is cool now, in 10 years time you will have changed a lot, an you probally wont like the tats you got as an 18 yearold.

/\ I disagree. I'm gonna think all my tats are dope when I'm 50.

Having a tattoo is like having a tag on your skin. Personaly i'd never do that to my skin. still nice tats in here

btw, who's the girl in yo pic, stefan?
