I didn't watch the MVAs, but I heard about this. Now, I don't mind Gaga at all, and I know she's very, say... different... in terms of style, but this one is just ridiculous lol. Like c'mon, she's wearing a damn t-bone or something as a hat.

There's no real point to this thread, but comment about it if you'd like. lol

^ lol.

Didn't this whole 'meat outfit' thing already happen in the 80s, or 90s? It was on the cover of an Undertones album, no? I vaguely remember seeing something like that.

Anyways, I didn't read what was her reasoning behind the dress, anyone know why she did it? Or is this just some stunt?

flip is such a pop culture addict. you and carmen should have babies, name one perez, the other hilton.

I'm not. It was on my morning radio station; usually it's politics and complaints about the city's infrastructure. It must have been a slow news day if this was the topic at hand. lol

As for having baby with Carmi, she knows where to find me  - Concordia SGW Campus, woo-HA! woo-HA!

Wasn't real. Under the spotlights it would have A) smelled like shit, and B) attracted like a million flies and whatnot within a very short space of time.

As for whatever point she was trying to make, when she tried to make that point on the Ellen show (which she really should have thought about, considering Ellen is vegan), it seemed clumsy and awkward.

I love Gaga, but the whole "trying to be shocking for the sake of it" is getting old. Fast.

She's better than that.

I don't follow Gaga much but when you said "she's better than that", I couldn't help but think "That's all she is." Her music so far has been good and she's had a lot of hits for the number of songs released. However, part of her appeal is the "trying to be shocking for the sake of it" thing. If she let her music do the talking and didn't try so hard to be in the public spotlight with her crazy outfits and celeb-causes, she wouldn't have much to go on. Her music would sell, but the fans wouldn't flock to her as much. And it's not genuine at all, what she does, I feel.

Aren't there chemicals you can use to neutralize the scent and the rot that attracts flies for a span of a few hours? The name doesn't come to mind, but it's used often in Biology dissections. I could be totally wrong here, so please correct me if so.

Either way, if it was real or not - I agree with you. The whole shock factor is just annoying at this point. Like I said, I just heard it on a radio show that usually deals with politics, so I was surprised to see the attention it was getting (this happened on the weekend, I assume?).

Yeah, I feel the same way. I've never cared much about 'celebrity shock', having your own style is one thing, but just going out trying to hard to be original and just making people go 'zomg' is another.

It's getting to the point where her shtick is actually taking attention AWAY from her music and not adding to it. When I said she's better than that, I mean in the sense that she has the chops and the songwriting skills to be taken seriously as a musician, and right now she isn't being taken seriously by a lot of people because of antics like these.

Follow that route, and you end up like KISS. Everybody can tell you what they look like, but most people can't name more than 1 or 2 of their songs, if that.

There's a balance to it. Right now, she isn't actively promoting anything.

She's beginning to build the hype for the next record she releases and she wants to remain in the limelight in the interim. But that's not a good move. The thing to do is to disappear for a while and then come back with a bang. If you're always visible between records, it's tougher to have an massive impact when you return.

If she continues this way she will burn out very quickly. And there's a million examples of people who have done exactly the same thing. It's the easy method (especially in this day and age) but it's not the smart method.

Sigh....you homo....editing my posts. :(
