Man, diesel prices are out of control!

A relatively small number of people are protesting in Spain over the high-speed train derailment - a second such incident this year.

Why is it so hard to keep these trains safe? I'm guessing human error and improper maintenance. Here in the US, trains derail every month while we just go about our days and we're talking about trains that travel at around 90mph!

I thought this was impressive; Over the Shinkansen's 60-plus year history, carrying over 10 billion passengers, there have been no passenger fatalities due to train accidents such as derailments or collisions, despite frequent earthquakes and typhoons.

I suppose the US could do it but I'm not very optimistic about it. I think the biggest obstacle in the US would be keeping people off the railroads!!
