Yes, Amara is my real name. I was given the san skrit version, which means "immortal." It means many other things too. In latin it means "bitter" and in greek it means "eternal." But I have heard that it is used in africa, south america and the middle east as well. So, it is wide spread, but I've never come across anyone else called Amara.

And Amar is a variant of Amr, which is a very widely used arabic name. both pronouned almost the same. I always thought that the sub-continental version came from the arabic version. so how did 'Amara' pop into the san skrit
