The Forum Is Dying!

it's something natural... i used to live in this place, but now i only come to see what's going on :(

i'll be back when i quit my job, and i think that'll be soon :P
Shit I don't even remember one post of yours so take your time and keep your job. ;)

The problem is the newbies are not stepping up. Afraid? I mean you can ask the same 2pac question for so long...

I think the decline in users can be linked to the fact that the board is more about Hip-Hop and less about Tupac since the upgrade.

This is what I also believe. When this site was more 2pac related, it seemed like constant new members and constant innovative threads were appearing. I would imagine the majority would agree with me , when this site was more 2pac associated it was thriving & prosperous. Now the forum is sluggish and dull.

It seems if you go to the main page and refresh it , nothing has changed for hours. Even if there are new threads, after the 3rd post people are typically sick of it and move on.

My resolution would be to make this site more 2pac oriented. Obviously Amaru had a link to this site on their home page and this is the most known and respected 2pac forum online. We should capitalize on that and advance.

The real question is, why do people leave?

BRING THE REP SYSTEM BACK.. lol

Would be pretty sad if green dots on a screen were people's only incentive for having posted. lol.

I think it's pretty difficult for new members to integrate which is why majority who register have no posts and leave. Banning is pretty rare these days as for old members, boredom I suppose. Middle ground members keep this place going and there's enough of them around. It's new posts and topics that we need, no problem with shortage of people.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but how would increasing the field of discussion result in less posting, it doesnt really make sense.

In any case it's not a decline in users that this thread is about. It's about certain people leaving or posting less, that doesnt mean overall the board is facing a decline in users, because I can tell you that's not what is happening.

I just don't care anymore Lol . This is the first time ive been on in about 1 week, even though I was still on the computer and the net.

I dunno it's some sort of conspiracy, I squarely blame everything on Froggy.

peace.

Well the fact that you gave everyone that option then took it away made people feel almost slighted. It was a way to earn a type of respect for contributing. It was a nice option to have , but what the “staff” didn’t think out right was giving people the ablitiy to ban members. If anything just put the rep system back in but make each rep less potent so people would have to earn each green dot slowly ;) .

Trust me, compare this forum to any other forum online and everyone can see the distinction. There isn’t much traffic on this site compared to most established forums such as this one, there’s no going around it. This is sad. In my opinion this forum has some of the most knowledgeable and intellectual people I seen on most website’s (hip hop oriented). That’s why im confused at why its lacking so much. It seems to be the excessive regulations and unwarranted guidelines, which almost takes away the excitement factor.

There needs to be some changes .I’m not trying to put this forum down , or else I wouldn’t even be hear posting on ways to improve and enhance it. Its obvious I support this forum and what it stands for.

Yeah i needed a break, i took a week off. the weather here in Toledo has been 65-75 degrees outside. just been enjoying the warm temps. taking long walks, shootin some B-ball, jogging a little bit.

just was spending time on the computer way too much, but im back i'll be posting again this week. (I missed you guys).

What the "staff" did was under estimate people's stupidity and lack of respect for one another other. I very much like the idea of the system and always did but too many people didnt understand like you do what it's purpose was, or how to properly use it. We gave people the option and time and time again, people crapped all over it... so we can do without it for a while...

What I was saying in the post you quoted was that there is a difference between traffic and activity. Lots of people visit the site and this continues all day, everyday - that's traffic and that isnt declining. Activity - posting and new threads, that increases and declines constantly and it's true that it has been quiet lately.

The application of regulations and guidelines has been eased somewhat since Pittsey and I have handled the day-to-day admin duties, there are certainly a lot less bans and mods have been increasingly held accountable to each other and us. The thing is, regulations and guidelines are a response to certain behaviour - if there was greater common sense, there wouldnt be a need for them.

Anyway, if you have any specific suggestions for improvement, let me know.

nah

i've said that for a while too that it was dying here compared to what it was when i joined at first. i think there was a thread about it and some people defended the fact that it was dying. dont remember who tho. best posters are posting less and worst posters are posting more. i consider myself in the worst posters even tho i've been posting less and the posts i make now have some content more than before. but also there is less interesting threads to post into. half of them are videos that the only replies are funny or not funny.

As for why people leave (or post less), for me, it's because a lot of the other members whose posts I like are now posting less or they have left. Not to say there aren't still good people around, but much less.

The cycle continues: more and more people leave because more and more people are leaving.

With respect to suggestions, I propose some sort of cycle reversing system, like when you pedal backwards on a bicycle. But we only have to deal with one cycle, so a unicycle would be in order.

and thanks for the shout.

I've only posted about twice in tha last month. I browsed tha board a couple times a week just to see what was goin on, but I don't really have tha passion to post right now for some reason. I was really sick for about a week and a half and didn't look at tha board at all. Maybe that killed my TB posting spirit :(.

I gotta agree with Think_ThuGlife. This site used to be more about Pac. In my opinion that's the problem. I think (and certainly in Europe, don't know about other parts ot world) Pac becomes less and less populair and known. Start a 50Cent/ shady-aftermath forum and there'll be a lot of posting members.

I check allmost every morning the life section. This morning people only posted in 3 threads. And I didn't visit for like 12 hours. I'm glad Dante is still around, if he and guys like Diaz, Tupac Tha Great, SigH etc. weren't around this section could be closed.

Most posts are in Our Block, but i think new members are searching for a forum like "Life". In my opinion "Life" should be on top of the page instead of streethop. People register mostly because of Pac, that should be number one.

Its not what it used to be becuz all of the good members are gone, before it was a community, i could come here and see some dude called "WhiteBoyPac" posting about him having sex with a black woman for the first time(AND THE FUCKING TOPIC WOULDNT BE CLOSED), i could read "FUCK YOUR KIDS BITCH", "I RUN THE FUCKING GHETTO U FUCKING PUNK", "I HAVE AN UZI", but now i come here and i gotta read "lol", "i agree amara, helena, suzy, Katie"(nothing wrong with it) but sometimes a chick will post a reply and some random dude called "Clitlicker-No girlfriend" comes and starts complimenting her with "I JuSt SaW YeR PiChAZ, FINE ,LETS HOOK UP:thumb:(Psychos)

Before this part of the forum was actually fucking hilarious, now u got some asswhipe saying "Thats not funny", "THATS RACIST", "Ban him" - fucking anti humour patrol, FUCK YOU, this part of the forum is the part where u can come and be random.

Haunted - Hilarious, dont come here becuz this place is boring
Froggy - posts but he cant be as funny without other funny people
Calcuo - Forum lost a good member, lol, people acted as if they didnt care he was gone but a shitload of people were on msn asking me if he was coming back
Mack - still posts(one of the good members left)
Dante - probably why people post here(funny)
Bank Robber - he dont post much
Salty - he dont post(thought he was a eminem dickrider, realized he was a cool fucking mofo)
Kami/Diaz - funny but i can imagine them leaving eventually becuz of the lack of funny.
PaulyPac - informative, funny, added alot to this place but he left
One MC Dj - good member, he left
Pittsey - Good Member

Theres a shit load more but it seems all the people that didnt post in Our Block posts in here and all the people that did have left.

So yea, this place is boring

I tend to think it's because the internet message board is usually used majority wise by teenagers and the younger. All of them are only interested in pop-rap. So they are all members of forums like D12 world for example.

Most people who were posting here are aged 20-30. As are most 2pac fans. Those who grew up with him. That age group will also tend to post on the internet less.
