I made a blog about this, and SOFI suggested I bring it to the Screen. So here it is...I guess I did a blog b/c it felt more personal then just a movie to me.

Anyway here is some history on it.

The movie is about:

Ernest Davis (December 14, 1939 – May 18, 1963) was an American football running back and the first African-American athlete to win the Heisman Trophy. Wearing number 44, Davis competed collegiately for Syracuse University before being drafted by the Washington Redskins, then almost immediately traded to the Cleveland Browns in December 1961. However, he would never play a professional game after developing leukemia in 1962. He is the subject of the 2008 Universal Pictures movie biography, The Express, based on the non-fiction book Ernie Davis: The Elmira Express, by Robert C. Gallagher.

I loved this movie. I am not one to wear my heart on my sleeve much, but I gotta admit, this movie moved me a ton.

I recommend it. Actually, let me put it this way,
I have only cried for 3 movies, this one included, along with Passion of the Christ....

Maybe it was my football background or something to do with the brutal racism, but this movie was just TOO awesome. The messages this young man had brung were just too awesome. I think this movie brought me more @ ease and made me realize that I have faced a lot, but not enough of what I am capable of, though I wish to never face what he faced.

Two thumbs WAY UP.

Wished I would have bought it instead of renting it.

One of the Best Football movies ever.

yeah it was a pretty good movie, the no name guy who played Jim Brown did a tremendous job.

that was good that Cleveland retired his number without Ernie even playing a single down for the Browns.

that would have been sweet if he didnt have the Lukemeia, him and JB as your backs. that would have won you games.

^I know. I was thinking the same. I never knew that. I was like OMG! (My girl only knows the new players, so she doesn't understand me when I talk of Jim Brown and Walter Payton)

Jim Brown and Ernie would have been a CRAZY tandem.

The no named guy is actually been in more movies recently. He was the bad guy in Stomp The Yard.

Here is Jim Brown's opinion on Ernie.

(Sorry cant embed it).
