HTC Click is a great idea but damn.. they could work on its looks.
Also it has only basic features (like a 5 year old pda) while going to cost ~300$.
Anyway it's great for those wanting a cheap android smartphone.

Yeah it's definately aimed at the younger market. It may even be free in the US with a contract which would mean Android is accessible to everyone. I wouldn't say it's features are that basic though, from what I've heard, but the specs haven't leaked yet.

They could clearly use a bigger LCD but instead there's a fancy frame around it to make it look bigger. It's about 2,8' which might be a bit too small for a smartphone.

a while back i was becoming confused between the click and the cliq, so i was beginning to think it was htc cliq. but they changed it to tatoo and motorola still occupy "cliq". so no confusion anymore for myself and shouldnt be for other consumers when just using the nickname.

person 1: "hello there, i was wondering how much the click costs?"
person 2: "sorry, the click isnt out yet".

Anyone using LG Cookie? They are aiming to sell 10 million units by the end of this year (and chances are they will since in July they had 5 million phones sold after only a few months).

The point is that I don't know anyone using this phone but people online say that it's much more than just a cheap touchscreen. Most of all people compare that phone to the Iphone -apart from different touchscreen technologies they both have similar specs, Cookie looks better and is smaller and lighter. It does have a custom Java UI without any advanced OS but it does support multitasking and all.
Most of all LG Cookie here is almost 10 times cheaper (literally) than the cheapest Iphone.

Personally I seriously doubt that it's even as good as an Iphone but with its price tag it's at least worth checking out.

sounds interesting ^ i thought it was just a low-end phone - as in you get what you pay for.

i sold my N95 yesterday to computer exchange. i received £78 cash for it. i could have got more for it (£90) 2 weeks ago but i couldnt make my way there as i was busy with too much studying/lectures/workshops in uni at the time.

its better i sold it now rather than later where the price is constantly depreciating.

i took so much care of that phone almost in brand new condition, same for boc and accessories. CEX got an excellent deal there for only £78. but i still have the original nokia cable and AV cable. (hahaha). i gave them a third party usb cable and kept the TV lead.

Sometimes I feel like the world is so backwards on mobile phones compared to for example Japanese mobile phone market.

It's silly that we're talking about qvga video shooting, amoled screens, 8mpx cameras and 800 x 480 pixel screens as high end for a modern phone.

Seriously, I wish I had one of these Japanese phones.

Phones4U were offering me the nokia 2730 for £40, £10 top-up totalling £50 and on vodaphone £50 for phone, £10 min top up = £60. i went back the day after (yesterday) and the price increased to make it £70 so i didnt purchase.

the best thing is that my dad is on t-mobile and doesnt want to change his number so its very convenient that i got the mobile phone for a great price which is on t-mobile (i.e. not locked to another provider - meaning that he doesnt have to switch networks, unlock the phone or phone up and request the PAC number and wait several working days for the transition to take effect).

Orange are selling the same phone for £100 online - anyone who buys it at that price is seriously retarded. compare £60 to £100 which would you rather spend for the same item? exactly!

Orange launches 'high definition' calls

Orange launches 'high definition' calls

Wireless carrier Orange UK has noted today the launch of "high definition calls", an upgrade to call quality.

The updated voice service will use Wideband Adaptive Multi-Rate (WB-AMR) for speech transmission which allocates 5x more bandwidth for a call than normal 3G voice, while using the same or only slightly more data. Orange says that two users calling each other with HD calling should expect the clarity to be as if both "were actually in the same room."

It is still unclear however if any current handsets can be updated to support WB-AMR, but Orange will have new phones available with the standard supported in 2010 alongside a wider rollout.

T-Mobile G1 to get Android 2.0?

Another rumor from the mill this week comes from AndroidSpin which is saying that T-Mobile G1 owners will soon receive an OTA (over the air) upgrade to firmware 2.0 (eclair).

Says the blog:

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls. All of your Android holiday wishes are coming true.

It has been confirmed that T-Mobile is releasing an Eclair update for the T-Mobile G1. The update will be at least Android 2.0 but more likely Android 2.0.1 as both versions have already been prepared as OTA updates. An anonymous source of ours has confirmed that both the Android 2.0 and the Android 2.0.1 are in the hands of some very fortunate people. Nothing can be released just yet due to Non Disclosure reasons.

Rooted users have had 2.0 firmware for some time, but it is nice to see (if the rumor is true) that Google hasn't forgotten about Android early adopters.
