Yeh "I Can't Make U Love Me" was originally by Bonnie Raitt. I don't think it's the best cover Prince has done though...have u heard his version of Shania Twain's "Ur Still The One"... Fucking awesome. And he did a great cover of Hendrix's "Red House" as well, and changed the name to "Purple House".

I didn't like D'Angelo's cover of She's Always In My Hair. But you gotta be real good to cover a Prince track. I didn't think Prince's cover of "La La Means I Love You" was that bad....

but...

Prince's cover of Sheryl Crow's "Everyday Is A Winding Road" was fucking terrible. Prince, what were you thinking man?

best that i could think of right now is U2:Unchained Melody...so many ppl have done a cover for this song though I liked this one the most.

Worst: Iris by Ronan Keating (original by goo goo dolls)... song got messed up.

One I just came across that really rocked hard was Terence Trent D'Arby's cover of "Under My Thumb", he actually brought some real soul to the song (Don't get me wrong, the Stones wrote some killer songs, but they come across as so fake when they try to emote some kind of soul in their playing especially Mick).

I've become a real TTD fanboy all of a sudden, dude wrote some crazy songs over the years.

Not much of a TTD fan... there's something about him I don't like. He seems to be too much of a poser....I remember hearing about him trying to jam at Paisley Park and Prince basically told him to fuck off cos he was shit.

TTD coming on the scene, talking all his shit about how amazing his debut record was, hurt his career for life simply because his debut record wasn't that good. Synth-poppy, watered-down 80's music, except for the kick-ass COVER of "Who's Lovin' You" (Smokey Robinson cover). S

ince then, the guy's never made a whole record worth mentioning, but if you pick and choose from the shit he's done from '89-'95, there's no denying the guy has a voice. That's the one edge I'd give him over someone like Prince (yet I think it's an unfair comparison to put TTD and Prince together, but that's another thing that kinda dogged TTD until he "went off the deep end" recently and changed his name, sound familiar?;)), TTD's voice is a classic soul-man voice. A Sam Cooke, a Jackie Wilson, Donny Hathaway-type voice, crazy range. The closest album to a great album by him would be Vibrator, finally dumped the synth shit and went straight rock.

Off the subject, I admit, but hey, who's reading this shit but me and Militant? If anybody else is reading this, VOTE FOR MILITANT IN THE AWARDS, MAN. It's not just the D***e and D**z Show, people! I don't give a damn if you vote for me, matter of fact, take my name off the one nom I got, but other people def. deserve some praise and some props.

Off the subject, once again, I apoligize.

Haha, thanks for the bigups KanDeeMan. Seriously I think you deserve some awards though too man. You're definately an under-rated member.

Yeah I have to admit TTD does have a good voice. He changed his name to Sananda Maitreya, right? I think I heard some of his new material on MySpace.

oh, and lazie, you mentioned an eddie vedder song... did he do a solo album or is that from a compilation? I like Pearl Jam a lot, I didn't realise Eddie did any outside projects....the Pearl Jam catalog is big enough, those guys work hard.

I don't think that Eddie Vedder has done a solo album. It's from the I Am Sam soundtrack, which is filled with Beatles covers. The tracklisting is below.

1. Two of Us - Aimee Mann & Michael Penn
2. Blackbird - Sarah McLachlan
3. Across the Universe - Rufus Wainwright
4. I'm Looking Through You - The Wallflowers
5. You've Got to Hide Your Love Away - Eddie Vedder
6. Strawberry Fields - Ben Harper
7. Mother Nature's Son - Sheryl Crow
8. Golden Slumbers - Ben Folds
9. I'm Only Sleeping - The Vines
10. Don't Let Me Down - Stereophonics
11. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - The Black Crowes
12. Julia - Chocolate Genius
13. We Can Work It Out - Heather Nova
14. Help - Howie Day
15. Nowhere Man - Paul Westerberg
16. Revolution - Grandaddy
17. Let It Be - Nick Cave

I'll go back into fanboy mode and say TTD's cover of "Change is Gonna Come" (with Booker T & the MG's) was better.

This is the most attention D'Arby's gotten since 1989;);)
