I was pumped to see Missy Higgins get so much recognition (5 Awards ) thats awesome!

Also it was good to see Evermore play It's too late.

lol the one thing that pissed me off was Jimmy Barnes is 20minute speech

I didnt watch them but running through the list of winners, it seems like a disappointing list. I think Missy Higgins is cool and ben lee, grinspoon etc are alright too... but the ARIAs are supposed to represent the best in Australian music and all we have to offer are these 'ok' bands and artists... there arent any that are spectacular or grab the attention of the nation.... except for maybe that callea guy who had that really popular song. Maybe it just seems that way because i find it hard to get into the Australian music scene, but i'd like our artists to gain more attention, have bigger success and recognition so that when the ARIAs come around, it will be full of quality contenders so that its really an accomplishment.

The ARIAs are VERY rigged, everyone in the industry knows it. I mean, they pretty much admit to it almost.

The whole Australian music scene is rigged to be honest. To get a number 1 single, all you have to do is sell 5000 copies. Major labels can easily buy up their own stock, and they do. Its why you always get the same people with numbers ones or winning ARIAs, because once you're on top you have enough clout and money to remain on top.

Its crooked and it sucks, unless you're one of those people with the clout/money

Here's how corrupt the ARIAs are:

Daniel Merryweather (sp?) won the best Urban act ARIA.... He hasnt even released an album, an EP or a mixtape, nothing. He just happens to have major label backing.

How can you win a music award if you havent actually released any music?

The ARIAs are about as credible as Australian Idol.
