Everybody should try it... it's the best fun ever.
A few friends and i did it tonight and we had so much fun. The japanese chef would throw eggs at us, throw rice (and in my case he made me go on the other side of the restraunt to catch the rice bowls), throw all this food over you and starting big fires and the like. It's so much fun.
a little expensive, but so much fun. U should do it in a big group too.
i may add the few photos we took of the night in the image gallery too but i really think u should try it.
Teppanyaki is the one where it's a japanese restraunt but the food is cooked in front of you. You all have a personal chef and they just do everything in front of u.

Yeah, we have a really good one right near my house (Tapan Yaki?). Real good food aswell and a great place to go with a group cos it sparks a lot of conversation.

Chicken in teryaki sauce, mmmm!
Oh yeah, you only made this in the wrong forum to push for a SuperMod spot! :D

How much did the night end up costing you? Id actually really like to check it out. I know there is one at the Hyatt hotel here, but an average night there costs about $300, and unless people go crazy with the donations and banner clicks I wont be able to afford that.

Paying $600 at dinner? CRAZY!

the one i went to was an expensive one ($75 a head... plus i got a 60 bottle of wine and got a dacari for the warm weather) but there are some that are good (real good) that are 40-50 a head not including any drinks. So it will cost u like 100 all up. I spent around 220 that night since i decided to spoil pebbles since she's going overseas for a month.
Definitely do it. The one in the burbs are better than the ones in the city.
I heard that the one at adelaides hyatte is shit house. Apparently they didn't throw any food at all. i think it was one of my work mates that was telling me.

lol

I paid £30 for a Deluxe Tapan which gave you 3 courses with a little bit of everything off the menu, a good thing to have as it means you get to try everything. You get soup, sushi and the like for starters with steak, chicken, lamb, even a full lobster (which are amazingingly nice), that type of thing for main and then shit like pineapple fritters for dessert. Real filling and delicious aswell, what more can you ask for? The one round from my house is a real good one but i'm sure you'll be able to find one near you.

So, the Asian guy chucks food at you, literally? I mean, I'm all for fun and games, but if I'm having food thrown at me, I'm throwing elbows, lol.

a hibachi show is basically when the japanese chef shows all their tricks when preparing food. in the best one here the chef does similar stuff, including tossing an egg up just high enough that it cracks on the ceiling without making a mess on the way back down, cutting off shrimp tails and flipping them up into the top of his chef hat, etc... they flip food around the restaurant a lot, but they're not hitting you or making a mess or anything. only downside is that you walk away with a nice coating of grease on your shit.

I did that once too. I was like what the fuck is in a super salad?!

so the Korean guy (shhh we're supposed to think that he's Japanese) chucks the hot shrimp towards my plate but it lands on my crotch and burns my beautiful penis. I settled for $1.5 million.
