Tech N9ne, others OK after tour van crashes on icy road
Tech N9ne must be a cat with nine lives.
Early Wednesday morning, the Kansas City rapper and several colleagues escaped serious injury when their 15-passenger van left the road and rolled over several times outside Billings, Mont.
Travis O'Guin, the rapper's manager, said icy road conditions were to blame for the accident, which totaled the van and the trailer it was pulling.
“The van was completely destroyed,” he told The Kansas City Star on Thursday. “If you could have seen the van — nobody should have been able to walk away from that and do a show afterwards.”
The injured were taken to a hospital in Billings, where they were treated for cuts, bruises and abrasions. Tech N9ne, had an injury near his eye and some minor scrapes, said O'Guin, who was not in the vehicle that crashed.
After leaving the hospital, Tech N9ne boarded a plane for Spokane, Wash., where he performed Wednesday night with the rap troupe Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. By Thursday night, when the tour stopped in Boise, Idaho, O'Guin said, the trailer and the van had been replaced. And everyone was breathing a lot easier.
“God was really with those guys,” O'Guin said. “Last night was probably the worst night of our lives. But everybody is healthy, and that's all that counts.”
