FORMER top boy band Take That were today expected to announce a reunion tour, including dates at the M.E.N. Arena.
The Manchester group - minus Robbie Williams - were due to hold a press conference to make a "very exciting announcement", expected to confirm rumours of a reunion. No dates for the Arena had yet been revealed.
Speculation has been mounting since the recent ITV documentary in which the band lifted the lid for the first time on their rise to fame, the departure of Williams and their final split 10 years ago.
The release of a Greatest Hits album has also revived interest in the group. The four remaining members - Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange and Mark Owen - were expected to announce a tour next year.
Split
Lead singer Barlow said last week they had been offered £1m each to go back on the road. Williams, who left the band in an acrimonious split, turned down an offer to meet the others in person as part of the ITV programme and instead recorded video messages.
He has been approached about a potential tour but is thought unlikely to accept.
The singer has gone on to enjoy international success and has notched up world record ticket sales for his 2006 World Tour, which will win him a place in the 2007 Guinness World Records. Barlow said last week: "Robbie has been included in the offer but I don't know what he thinks. We would do it without him.
"Financially, it's a very tempting idea and I know a lot of our fans would like it. Our live shows were what made Take That great, so if we came back it would have to beat that.
"We won't make another album together. But next year we could tour. It is certainly something everyone is open to."
