Busy at work with Sly magazine and a reality TV series, Sylvester Stallone has now turned his attention back to Hollywood.
Sylvester hopes to bring Vietnam vet Rambo back in another sequel, and also wants to put boxing hero Rocky back in the ring. “Well, of course (Rocky)’s old and well past his prime,” he told the Daily Mirror, before giving fans a sneak peek at the plot: “He’s drawn back into the ring as sort of a publicity stunt, and out of what starts off as a joke he pulls it off.”
While fans can expect his Rocky and Rambo characters to be as muscle-bound and macho as ever – “Today’s idea of an action hero is Orlando Bloom. Orlando Bloom? Give me a break,” he’s been quoted as saying – Sly’s also broadening his horizons with other types of films in his multi-pronged movie comeback.
First up, Sylvester is directing Notorious, a film about the murders of rap stars Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., and is starring in the film as a Los Angeles detective.
The actor is also getting behind the camera for his first-ever period piece, a biopic about Gothic writer Edgar Allen Poe. The project, ten years in the making, has not yet been cast, but it has been said that Robert Downey Jr is Sly’s first choice for the lead role.
