anyone know anything bout good supplements, eg, whey, creatine etc, not to gain weight, but protein supplements.

im 17, is there a particular one i should get?, i dont wanna have a side effect and grow an extra toe.

dont take creatine if you dont want to gain weight. creatine will put on a good 20 pounds of water within a few days, which will take you 30 days to get rid of once you stop taking creatine.

whey protein is better than casein protein or soy protien.Any form of whey protein is good,as long as the brand name is reputable and not some basement company.

get yourself some BCAA which are amino acids that help in the recovery of your muscles.

by the way Swollen Member, glutamine has been proven that it does absolutely nothing,so its a waste of money.its very expensive by the way.

i'd suggest you also get some flaxseed oil, its really cheap and healthy, but it tastes like crap, i gag everytime i take it.

What do you plan to do overall. What to be tone? lose weight? body fat? gain muscle mass?

Also with that what are your eating habits? Sleeping habits?

Here is a forum that I frequent alot. http://forum.bodybuilding.com. They have reviews from people who are dedicated to their body and life and also they can help you out with eating right, a workout program, or see their workout program to see what fits you.

whey proteins good
if u get sore often from working out then get a vitamin C supplement or drink lots of orange juice.
apple juice usually has vitamin c added if u hate orange juice like i do

on a diet regimen involving weight training, juice is the last thing you want to take since the sugar it contains is fructose. fructose turns into liver glycogen, which is not what we want. the kind of sugars that we want to consume must come in the forms of dextrose or complex carbohydrates, which in turn will convert to muscle glycogen. full muscle glycogen = less fatigue, maximized pumps and quick muscle recovery times.

so which would be the best supplement for more muscle mass?

so you want to get big? this is all you need

-whey protein (look for the ones with added amino acids)

-creatine (stay away from liquid creatine, its unstable in liquid form and is barely potent)

-flaxeed oil (cheap, $5 a bottle, must come in a black bottle, must be in fridge when you buy it,keep in fridge, dont let it get exposed to the light or it will turn rancid and poison you)

-LOTS OF FOOD.

Eat,eat, eat. 7 meals a day. But you have to eat clean,no junk

these are the foods you want to include in your regimen

fresh unprocessed meats (fish,chicken,beef)
vegetables
eggs
rice
NO MILK, NO FRUITS,NO BREAD,NO SOFT DRINKS,

workout monday to friday

friday have a full body workout where you work every single bodypart. must last 1 hour

saturday:no working out.eat everything in sight, mostly sugars like cake, ice cream,etc.. until you cant move and playing video games becomes a chore. this will rebalance your hormones so you're no longer at a deficit(leptin,etc..). this is essential.

sunday: no working out. eat complex carbs only (rice,potatoes,etc...),protein,and healthy fats(flax oil, olive oil)

monday begin eating clean again.

keep repeating cycle

first month you'll pack on about 15 pounds of muscle. these are called newbie gains. after that you will gain less but still alot.

you know how you need food to live, well muscle needs protein to live. if you dont get enough protein, the body eats muscle from parts of the body(which is converted to protein) to repair the damaged muscle(from walking, working out).you end up with less muscle.

whey protein is a source of protein that is easily absorbed in the body and is preferable in muscle recovery.soy protein and casein protein are not that potent and only a small percentage is absorbed, thats why whey protein is most popular.

whey protein is not only used to gain muscle,it is also used to maintain muscle.

remember that you can only take in 40grams of protein at a time, more than that, the protein cannot be absorbed and is converted to glucose. so forget about taking a extra scoop,it will do more harm(especially to your wallet) than good.

getting protein from foods such as eggs or chicken is not the same as taking in whey protein.Again, protein from foods is not easily absorbed, and it doesnt contain necessary amino acids which aid in protein synthesis. Whey protein contains many essential amino acids and absorbed easily.

30 minutes before

and

30 minutes after

mix 40 grams of dextrose with it each time .dextrose is a sugar,it just sweetens it up.dont put table sugar lol, make sure its dextrose. what it does in the body is spike insulin, which will let the protein get absorbed even more, which is what you want. dextrose is cheap, u can get a huge bag for 10 dollars.
