Marion “Suge” Knight filed a $106-million lawsuit against convicted drug dealer and murderer Michael Harris on Thursday.
Knight has consistently denied that in 1991 Harris invested $1.5 million to kick-start Death Row Records.
On Friday the attorney for Knight, Dermot Givens, said that Harris was a federal informant who invented “a scheme to blackmail various entertainment industry entities” by threatening to sue over his alleged drug money investments.
Knight alleges that Harris and his attorneys, David Casselman and Steven Goldberg, initiated a lawsuit lodged against him by Harris’ wife seeking $107-million. Mrs. Harris won the lawsuit but according to Givens she later settled for $1-million and selected rights to Death Row music.
Attorney Steven Goldberg believes Knight is attempting to avoid payment and described the lawsuit as “a pathetic and desperate joke.”
