Militant university drop-outs hold s nude “die-in” protest in the ‘University Belt”, around a crowded Manila university block near the Malacanang presidential palace, an area that hosts many educational institutes in Manila, on Wednesday June 1, 2005, saying they wanted to “bare the government’s shortcomings” in education funding. The rallyist bore placards condemning alleged shortages in the education budget resulting in 13.4 million out-of-school Filipinos, because of a lack of facilities and caused school standards to deteriorate. The protesters were demanding immediate reforms in the country’s education system ahead of the fast-approaching new school year.
