Student Suspended For Handsignals In Yearbook

cos it's an icon for us. my and my people throw it all the time for fun. we dont really represent westside with it, its a joke. and in some way it's become a sign to represent for hiphop in general, be it in a joking manner.

that said, there are tons of kids who actually think its cool

I'd have to agree wiht you.

Am I the only one who thinks the school was actually being reasonable? If they have a anti-gang program at the school, then why would they allow something that could be counted as a gang sign?

As for the dub, I see people do that around here all the time and as far as I am concerned they are an embarassment to hip-hop and what 'Pac even stood for.

As far as Im concerned, if kids run around throwing up the W for fun, it stands for WIGGA or WANKSTA, or just plain old ol school WANKER.

Do you guys realize that 2pacnbiggie accounts for 99% of student-teacher related threads in Our Block? In the past couple of months, he has over 15, guaranteed. Are you signed up for like a newsletter with keywords, "student" and "teacher"?

LOL. So true.

Man I put up a big ass FU at the yearbook picture and nobody even noticed, had it been in the states, I'd probably be in jail getting charged with conspiricy to blow up the damn school. Bah!

Same here, one of the best students in the school, valedictorian I think.

hahah good shit. last night some kids at my school climbed up a tall ass light pole by our football field and taped a huge sheet of paper with a drawing of the "shocker" hand sign and the message "shock em 2005". you could see it across the field and the field is right by the student entrance :thumb:

they had to get one of those crane trucks (i think they're called cherry pickers" and some dude had to go up and take it down)

classy shit

I'd say you're judging people way too fast. If they throw up the W and actually think they represent Westside or that it means something to them, okay, but there are a lot of people who don't mean anything with it, they just throw it up because its, like i said, an icon.

A suspensions for this is too far. If you think about it, it's the school's fault for putting the picture in the yearbook. The kids in the picture didn't sneak into the computer lab one night and say "Yo, let's rep our set in the yearbook. Blood Up!" The yearbook staff put it what appears to but a candid photo that they deemed appropriate. If the school is all about censoring this kind of stuff, they should have taken more responsibility in the editing process.

I've shown love to killa Kali and I didn't get blurred ... yet lol and i've also thrown up the middle finger ... that was quite funny considering my school never tolerated this shit; it was funny nobody had a chat with me about it lol. but that's stupid yo'!

a school near my house just had a situation about the yearbook.

basically they had different things like best car, best smile etc. and one of the categories was most whipped. well this boyfriend and girlfriend were in there. The girl was white and the boy was black and for the picutre he got down on his hands and knees and she had a whip in hand with a belt around his neck. It was obviously a joke and both of them wanted to take the picture like that, but the guys mom saw that and lawsuit came right to her mind. So she's suing the school and getting the year book teacher fired. Now the guy is going to hollywood to go on some kind of talk show and say of how he was offended as a black person (even though he willingly had the picture taken). I just don't get some people. I hope they don't win and are countersued because if it really offended him he wouldn't have allowed his girlfriend to put a belt around his neck and get down on his hands and knees. No one forced him to do anything.
