Streethop.com has officially fallen off (Rant ahead)

Inconsistency hurt this board.

Some of the best members of this community got banned for basically stealing a slice of bread, while on the other side some mods/older members got away with bloody murder.

Then ofcourse theres those certain individuals who just love to poke fun at people for the fuck of it. Those certain individuals that instead of dropping insight and replying to topics/threads they will instead pick up on spelling mistakes and start pointless arguments ruining threads.

Having buttcheek members criticize people who actually try to make the board more enjoyable when they post links to stuff. Instead of either not going into the thread or simply replying with a "cool, thanx" they will instead start BS for the hell of it.

In conclusion it's ass-wipes like Dante who ruin the board for people and it's ass-wipe mods who believe banning everyone until there's no one left expect their closest e-buddy's will make the board better who ruin it for people. I'm not saying it's Dante's fault or the mods, but they along with constant stagnant server problemo's that have cause the demise of Streethop.com.

peac3.

Let me take the minute to explain something to you guys.

Rukas is NOT sitting there on a chair laughing at everyone that's having a hard time getting into the site. This site is a BUSINESS. Not one thing is free except the shit you guys (the posters, including me) are allowed to do. He's trying hard to run this business. So when it has its downfalls and problems, he is trying to fix it. The next server up, I've seen, I know how much it costs, its something that he can NOT afford right now. This dude's hustling everyday to make a living, so he doesn't have the money to go out and put extra money into a server that's doing nuthing but pleasing you guys (including me). A few years ago, when he was at a regular job, yeah maybe, but not now.

So he asks people/more regulars to pitch in and drop a few dimes and nickels---anything that'll help pay the bills. And yeah a lot of people responded and donated money. But the bills come every month. So he asks you guys to click the ads and I highly doubt that the ones that are complaining even bother to click any links/ads.

I'm closing this thread for multiple reasons. All of which I'll address. First off, albohemia, you come in here and type up a thread--ranting inside saying that oh the forum's dead no one posts in here. You're frustrated? That's fine. I am too. But before you start pointing fingers and shit, how many times have you made a thread in this forum to keep it alive? How many times have you jumped in on a discussion and kept a thread moving? Honestly, I can't even remember.

But you sit there visiting the site everyday (probably) hoping something would pop off. How many of "you's" you think there are? I think hundreds. I think EVERY member that's going "damn this forum is dead, aint no threads being made and etc" do the same exact thing. They sit on they ass hoping some ELSE would participate and make them laugh or entertain them. Don't deny, I do it too.

But reality is no, shit doesn't work like that, EVERYONE that's complaining or thinking about complaining, fucking post something. Click a damn link/ad. Help pay for this shit so the servers upgraded, cuz that way, you won't have anything else to blame.

Everyday 300+ VISIBLE members visit the site (and thats VISIBLE members, so all you hidden members and guests, yall aint even in that count) and maybe like a handful of regulars only post. Why? I sure as hell don't know. Maybe they doing the same damn thing as you--waiting for someone to make it popping.

The site is NOT dying, trust me, dont believe me, go view the number of members that VISITED the site that day. (Its located in the bottom of the forum/homepage) Hundreds, but none of them post. So this thread shouldn't be about the site dying, it should be about it being quiet. Asking why its quiet and why members don't post.

And since I already answered that for you---by saying its cuz people like you, dont like to post but rather wait for someone else to make it jump off--there's no reason for this thread to stay open. So, I'm gonna close this before this becomes the most popular-est thread with 50 pages of random people complaining. Every time a thread like this is made---forum dying---shit--hundreds of never before seen members come out of hiding/quietness and post shit like "yeah man, i visit this site everyday and see no new threads/posts" So uh, maybe you should start posting?

I'm also gonna close this shit cuz I don't want some1 to say something bad about another site, so it'll have that sites admin up streethopper's ass for not closing the thread or not removing the comment and etc. Cuz I don't feel like writing out another essay showing them the meaning of an hypocrite.

You (could be anyone) dont like it here? Fine. This aint no cult. You're free to fly about the internet to find another source/forum for hip hop. The log out buttons located at the same place for everyone, so it aint hard to miss it. But don't sit there an complain about something that YOU haven't put in a bit of effort to change. Yeah, if you made a bunch of threads in this forum and they were all going by with minimal views and no responses, I would've left this thread open. But till you make an effort to change what you dont like, dont complain here.

Bombsquad, lol you bring your mans in here to start posting news and say that it lit up the place and shit---but at the same time, your outta here? Aight man, leave. That log out buttons only a click away. The same shit goes for you, I rarely see you post but the minute something isnt going the way you want it, you complaining? Do something about it. Don't sit there and whine about it. And if you rather not do anything about it---leave-----oh wait nevermind, you already chose to do that. Sorry.

Oh and you're mad because we don't let you post album links? How would you feel if you were a recording artist and someone was bootlegging your shit to make money or not even making money, just giving it away free. Wouldn't you rather have that shit prevented so the money actually goes into buying your CD so you can get a piece of the loot? That's exactly how the owner/us feel. See here at streethop, the staff works with artists and if the artists see that we allow something ILLEGAL like the allowing of their albums ILLEGALLY posted, they will not want to work with us. If they don't work with us, we cant promote, if we cant promote, we cant make money, if we cant make money, we cant pay bills, if we cant pay bills, then there is no site. Then that all brings us back to square one---complaining. So thats ONE of the reasons why we don't allow links to retail albums.

You don't gotta like it, but it is what it is.
Feel free to PM me.
Closed.

I don't wish to play the "everything was better back in the day" card but it does seem to me that Streethop.com has fallen off somewhat....

The news section used to be pertinent and informative, on occasion it would even invigorate the mind and encourage the reader to explore unknown acts or artists. Unfortunately, the news now reported here is analogous to that of the content featured in a poor gossip column. I cannot be the only one who does not wish to read about rappers’ purported sexual practices, scandalous behavior, and alleged criminal activities.

In the last month alone we've been treated to hearsay rumors (Jay Z might have drunk cristal, Beyonce might be pregnant) irrelevant and insiginficant news (Craig Mack wins ugliest rapper award, Lil Jon sets bling record and hip hop featuring at WWE events) not to mention the unsubstantiated and quite frankly ridiculous titbit about Rakim joining G Unit. I haven't even touched upon the claptrap being currently posted about Yayo/50cent/assault/didhedidn'the/whocares/wedon'tneedhourlyfuckingupdates. In short I'd go as far to say that the news section has become a joke among people who care about music.

Similarly, the forums here used to provide an outlet for intelligent discussion and detailed criticism. This is probably down to the fact that back in the day streethop.com used to be frequented by more visitors who took the time to contibute to discussions - I'm not privy to statistics but it would appear that unique visitors to the site have decreased rapidly based upon the dimished thread views.

As a result, every sub category has suffered in quality. There seems to be little or no ground between tabloid-style attention to chart acts and the more middle-aged, conservation work of tirelessly compiling lists and meditating on past glories. Similarly, Myblock used to be a platform for reminiscing about comedic anecdotes and a base for creating leftfield threads about witty inappropriateness. The aforementioned qualities can still be found, but to a far lesser degree than before.

What the fuck happened? / does anyone else agree? / Should I just forget about it and go post somewhere else? (I've been considering it for a while now)

While I appreciate your honest comments I have to slightly chuckle at you of all people posting them considering I offered you a position on the news staff towards the end of 2006.

Perhaps you should accept my offer and take your obvious writing talents, energy and time and put them to better use and fix some of the problems you see.

Afterall you seem comfortable being the self appointed critic; who else better to make an improvement and lead by example?
