I was just thinking of ways to make the site better, in order to direct more traffic here... And one of the things I thought of was we need alot more Album reviews... And i know everyones sitting there going "no shit, jackass". But, I realized its hard for a single member to write lonng reviews sometimes and thats why we dont have much. We dont really have anybody who can dedicate the time to write really detailed reviews. I personally did one, planned to do more, but just havent had the time to sit down and do another one.

But what I was thinking was a team of like 5-6 reviewers. That all listen to an album. They each give it a rating out of 10, and write 3-5 lines about its strengths and weaknesses. And done, You have an album review from 5-6 different persepectives and all the reviewrs have to do is listen to it.. and take about 5 minutes to comment on it. This way we can have like 2-3 new reviews every week. We can also do shit like 'throw back reviews' and different types of shit like that.

for this to work, we'd need 5-6 ppl with sorta different perspectives on hip hop.. ie.

The Young Cat: who's hip hop experience dats back to the formation of G-Unit
Hip Hop Traditionalist: Whos been around for a bit, but just prefers that whole mid 90's era
Underground Head: Been around for a bit, and just prefers that underground sound.
The True Head: Been there from the start, and recognizes talent, doesnt care if its underground or south, if he feels it has talent he gives it props.
The Music Lover: Loves all types of good music

etc.

The reason I was thinking we need all types of ppl, so that when the team reviews an album it has somewhat of a view from all types of listeners. Any volunteers? I'm lookin towards Linx!, Albohemia, and Militant in particular. Anybody else is great too, we can even have 2 teams depending of amount of volunteers we get, and therefore even more reviews being done.

..anyways its just an idea, If you guys got more to make things better around here post it up.

Another thing I was thinking was, instead of ppl bitching an moaning about Rumours being mixed up as news, we can just separate it into a News section and into a Rumours section.

we def. gotta get more mainstream artists albums.... mainstream's been hated on too much and people think they're now cool cuz they listen to underground.... the main site does enough to support underground artists, of whom i have my own opinions on, and we the members do need to rate these albums.... you cant hire staff for that could you?

but yeah, it's def. a good idea... the streethop section kinda does that when something leaks... a member will say something's leaked and what the thoughts were on it.... but i think we need something more concrete as far as the rating system goes...

... I wasnt saying anything about getting mainstream albums. All I was saying was we need all types of heads doing reviews to get wider perspectives on albums. And to make the reviewing process quicker so we can get alot more posted up. We gotta do reviews for all sorts of albums, mainstream to underground.. EVERYTHING.

(I dont see how themain site does enough to support the underground).. but I wont get into that since its irrelevant and thats not really what this site is here to do.

... anyways what do ppl think of this review idea? Any volunteers.. I'm in, if i can get a team together and Rukas, Sigh, Pittsey etc. approve of it.

The review thing sounds good, whatever gets more goin on I guess, that area is definitely lacking. The rumor/news thing I dont like though. A rumor section reminds me of AllHipHop too much and I just aint all groupie like that to be caring, but thats just me.

Every other hip hop site has album reviews and some hip hop sites have very good ones. I don't think Streethop should go in that direction. It's a bad investment.

S O F I said:

Does that really matter though. Not every Hip-Hop site has the same opinion or will review the same albums.
