Frantic said:Still not a very fitting comparison i think, cuz still i rise was a 2pac & Outlawz collabo album.
Pac's life is close to being the album with the least outlawz on it (the full group for sure).
also, still i rise was an eary album, the rap game was different 6 years ago, amaru still had a huge amount of material to choose from. this time around they were much more limited.
i agree that Loyal to the game was terrible, and that just cuz this one is better, doesn't automatically make it good, but i think the similarities between LTTG and pacs life are bigger than those between Still i rise and pacs life. its a more logical comparison

Rukas said:They're not brave, their just stupid. They are under the disillusion that Pac will sell no matter what kind of beats your throw him on, no matter what kind of artists you feature him with, no matter what kind of promo you give the album, and no matter when it is released.

Rukas said:All these LTTG/PL comparisons are ridicules, really.
In my opinion Still I Rise is the best post-humus 2Pac release (not counting Makaveli) followed very close by R U Still Down. But for the sake of single disc releases, this really is the only comparison that should be made.
Loyal To The Game sucked, hands down, it was awful. Comparing Pac's Life to it and then somehow coming to the conclusion that Pac's Life is good because it is better than LTTG is retarded.
If you want to see how a Tupac album could, should and has been handled, pop Still I Rise into your CD player. We need to set a bar, a standard of rating so to speak, and in my opinion, Still I Rise is the minimum a Pac album should be. We know it is possible, it has been done, the quality of the vocals used (read: wasted) on LTTG and Pac's Life is just as good as those used on SIR; there is no realistic excuse as to why these albums shouldnt be as good and respectful as SIR.
I miss Tupac so fucking much, but Ive come to the disappointing realization that his time is well and truly over, it is time to stop. The music is an embarrassment to what it was in the 90's, even after he passed, as are the fan attitudes and the community as a whole.
It's over.

Rukas said:At this stage I think the only way Amaru could suprise us is if they put Black Haze on there pretending to be Pac, and that wouldnt be good.
I expect everything to gradually go down hill until it hits the wall.
THA_DAN said:they still drop some tight tracks, problem is they need to come with a totally coherent album, take the few good tracks on pac's life and multiply them. at least there is an improvement compared to lttg imo, they didn't fuck his vocals.
lttg was a shame, this one is ok for a tribute album.
CoolWaterz said:Rukas, I read all the responses to your post and most people on here get it. but there are some who just dont seem to understand. Ill bet that they are younger than us older folks on here who were around for the 2pac era..those of us who got me against the world when 2pac was actually in jail...those who bought 2pacs casette tape singles. People seem to be in blatant denial just because 2pac's name comes up in a new rap song every 5 minutes. but the fact of the matter is that the 2pac era of rap is over. And its not because his music is outdated in any way, it is because of the mishandling of his music PERIOD.
All of 2pac's music still has a firm place in hiphop today. the problem is its become more of a joke than anything else. "Oh 2pacs dead, heres another album". The albums have gotten so generic, that a 2pac album has lost its credibility as a piece of art in hiphop. I said it from the start. His music never needed to be tampered with. People seem to have different opinions..they would say "just be happy with what you got" "be happy their putting music out" as if i should be make to feel like an ingrate. Fact of the matter is, it was clear there was only one road to go down once they started remixing beautiful songs and making duets with artists 2pac would have never worked with. To be honest, looking back now i would have rather they never released a posthumous 2pac album post R U Still Down. 2pac doesnt even sell anymore..and its not just because hes been dead..look at Kurt Cobain. He made millions this year alone because he had a new cd released of unreleased songs. The reason 2pac albums dont sell anymore is because they are POOR ALBUMS. The older mature folks out there have no desire to hear 2pac remixed with the hot new artist of the month...i really cannot for the life of me understand who Amaru is catering to. Id rather have had 1 album in the last 5 years that contained 12 originals than 5 albums in the last 5 years containing 70 or so remixed duets.
2pac's music is still marketable if they used the mans formula and stopped trying to market it to 12 year olds who DONT buy these shitty albums anyways. It's sad...look at elvis and how he still sells..Ive never heard unreleased Elvis Presley songs on the radio where hes singing with fucking Coldplay just because their hot right now. ANd dont tell people who feel this way to stop complaining. Theres an old saying that goes something like this:
"You see things and you ask why? I see things and ask, why not?"
If some of you content with the continued raping of 2pacs legacy, go buy and support the album. I for one, will not give money regardless of if its 2pac to a label I feel makes every wrong decision in the book.
