this site here - http://www.supershadow.com/ claims to have direct question / answer section by george lucas - he answers the fans about the possiblity of sequels (should this one do well) and the tv show. the site apparently also has the three scripts written up for the 7 8 and 9 episodes and claims that the movies could go on forever - but then again this guy could have just made the site up for attention

Look how many star trek movies came out Gene Rodenberry made his Money.
George seems healthy, go ahead an make a few more movies. but he aint gonna live forever. when he gets older than stop at episode 9.

not really- there were books of 7 8 9 - where luke went to the dark side and han solo's kids (who were jedi) beat him down and brought him back to normal-and then restarted the jedi acadamy. to be fair, lucas writes his story and is passionate about his charactors, but its his special effects studio that creates the look and feel of the movies. with his production team still working hard the movies can be made with or without him..just need a good director
i think they should further go into what happens after the demise of vader... we've got luke and han and all of these characters and we just want more! i know i do, atleast, i think the star wars movies are great stories... i loved revenge of the sith.. if every film they come out with is the quality of the last one.. i wouldn't have 1 complaint.
rukas is wrong. the movies were based on anakin, however the books are about the conflict over all between jedi and the sith. there are alot of other charactors the books are based on - specifically han solo/lei's children (twins) that are trained by luke-the books were pretty good and could easily be either used to continue this sage (7 8 9) or just start thier own continunity altogether with references based in the older movies..
Like Ruk said, there are already about 50-60 books that take place AFTER Episode 6. It's all about Jedi and a new enemy in the galaxy, Praetorite. Han and Leia's kids are pilots and are quite adapt with the force.
7 8 9 would be pointless and George has already said he won't do anything else related to Star Wars... it's all wishful thinking on your behalfs.
