Just saw the movie Redemption, the story about stan williams, the co-founder of the crips. Anyway, I was wondering, what's your opinion about him? Do you think that he only wrote the books so he could avoid beeing executed?

I've seen a documentary a year ago here some claimed that tookie is still active with the gang and such.

I think the whole thing is Get-out-off-Jail- Free card.. He commited the crime so now he should pay the price..

If every Criminal wrote a book and advocated "peace and told people to stay away from crime and so on" doesn't excusess what they did to begin with.

I don't actually believed he did the crime he got convicted for. However he has done a lot of wrong.

the crips and bloods originally originated from ppl just hanging around together and just wore the color it wasnt brought out to be violent... it just grew a life of its own

GREAT GREAT underated movie! that was Directed by Vonde Curtis Hall (be of some interest to Tupac Shakur fan's since he also starred in and Directed "Gridlock'd")!

I think he was genuine and wanted to help defuse the powder keg he laced.

Still had gang invlolment? hmm I don't doubt that, in fact don't they show that in the movie? he is trying to be a positive influance on them.

Think about it like this, if he has a large group of people that he can convert from a Gang to a Community service group of some sort it could be great!

Like the Black Panthers started out giveing out lunch's and protecting there own block.

I want to read the book, but to call the Film shit makes your taste seem sour.
