so my computer seems to have been infected with spyware. i tried using Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE personal edition, the program i normally use, to get rid of it. so i do a scan, and when the scan is completed, i go to delete everything it found. except thatr when i do that i get the message saying deleting selections, but it just stays there, it never finishes, or even really starts from what i can tell, deleting anything. i leave and come back 10 minutes later, and it still just says deleting selections. i've had similar problems with almost every other program i've tried. anyone have any suggestions for programs that actually remove this shit, and not just fuck up on me? has anyone else had this probl;em with Ad-Aware before? cuz its one of the most highly recommended programs out there, but it doesn't seem to do shit for me

some shit like that happend 2 me last year, i had to manually delete, do searchs on google.com about removal

well i'm trying a new program called spyware doctor. i've used the ones posted in that tech talk knowledge base (except for the microsoft one) the S&D one worked even worse than Ad-Aware did lol. hopefully this one i'm trying now will work

edit: lol this program is garbage, i downloaded the free version, and when it finished the scan it told me that i have to purchase the full version to delete anything it found in the scan. great program

oh this is great, now i can't even close or uninstall this Spyware Doctor program. i try to close it on my toolbar, i click exit and nothing happens. i try to uninstall it, and it starts, but in the last 10 minutes it hasn't moved past 1% uninstallation. and my computer is running super slow since i installed it. i guess my computer is a big pile of junk now, this is just fucking great. i hate the internet

now i've discovered a fun new problem: my computer shuts down and restarts seemingly at random, it's already happened twice today, some error with winlogon.exe is what it tells me when it restarts. first the problem with my games (which is still happening too, i thought it was fixed but i guess not) then the problems with the spyware programs and now this too, i just can't fuckin win :fury:

hmmm....well, do you update ad-aware? that could be a problem..

and maybe you have a trojan or a virus...try getting a copy of symantec antivirus...or maybe you need to reinstall your OS...i did that, and all my problems went away....just back up your shit

i always update all my spyware/virus programs. but most of them don't want to get rid of a lot of stuff. i'm googling for info on how to remove some of this stuff manually, i don't want to reinstall my OS if i don't have to. i just wish there was a comprehensive program that could get rid of all this shit all at once instead of having to go through all this trouble

It looks like you have a virus /adware one of those two. Type in your problem within google.com and you will find many solutions to your problem. I did.
To clear this up once and for all. This file is part of the windows operating system and is required for normal logon/logoff function. On systems not regularly security updated it is also funerable to both w32.netsky and backdoor prorat trojans amongst others. If these viruses attach themselves to the file, then it becomes a threat. The genuine winlogon.exe resides in system32 folder, and also in service pack uninstall files, so any other place is a virus, BUT it can also be a virus in system32 folder if trojan has attached itself to it.

update ad aware se professional edition, spybot search and destroy. then go to safe mode. launch those programs (beside your regular antivirus program), scan your computer. delete what they find and restart in normal mode. it'll be fixed.

well my problem has been fixed for a while now, but unfortunately that method didn't work for me. it would remove some stuff, but there was always some stuff that it said couldn't be removed, and nothing would get rid of the popups i was getting. but i got it all straightened out now, my PC is working better than ever now. thanks for the advice tho

Get ewido security suite for future reference. Also regularly clean up your computer with this free program called Crap Cleaner, I use it everyday and it keeps shit running smoothly.
