Southern Underground.....(Y'all Should Check This Out)

#1
Southern music that southerners listeners probably haven't even heard of & deserve some shine & are probably more talented then the 1's that are getting recognized currently in the mainstream.

I've named the artists/groups, given the name of te albums & some information about their style if you want to take it any further!

Name: Asamov

Albums: And Now...(2005)

''The ABs are without a doubt one of the most creative and refreshing groups on the underground urban music scene. With four gifted MCs and two genius producers, they tell down-to-earth, authentic stories laid over brilliant soundscapes. With their roots in the music of classic Native Tongues artists, The Abs are taking hip-hop music into the future with an inspired musical vision and a truly organic chemistry.''

Name: Cyne

Albums: Time Being (2003) & Evolution Fight (2005)

''
Avoiding the material trappings of mainstream hip-hop as well as the lyrically self-congratulatory social consciousness of much of todays underground, the 2 emcees and 2 producers of CYNE are everything hip-hop should be lyrical commentary that opens minds and moves bodies. Hailing from West Africa and the cultural melting pot that is Florida, CYNE has spent the past four years working to make sense of the world through the introspective interplay of emcees Akin and Cise Star. Akin attacks the mic with a conversational flow that runs with a sense of impassioned urgency, while Cise Stars delivery rolls over the listeners with an uncanny self-assured smoothness. Together, they reach back to the self-reflective days of hip-hops past, they engage themselves and the world in discussion of matters social and personal import. Beneath the lyrical venom of Akin and Cise Star is the dynamic, layered genius of Speck and Enoch. Combining elements of rock, trip-hop, jazz, and countless other influences, they create atmospheric landscapes of simple complexity that push the creative capabilities of hip-hop.''

Name: Supastition

Albums: 7 Years of Bad Luck (2002), Deadline EP (2004) & Chain Letters (2005)

''No stranger to bad luck and hardships, Greenvile, North Carolina native Supastition has managed to use those setbacks as inspiration to create his own vibe of emotionally-driven hip hop. After brief yet unsuccessful stints in 2002 with indie label Freshchest Records as well as Rasco’s Pockets Linted Entertainment, Supastition’s turning point came when his collaboration with producer Nicolay was hand-selected by the staff at Okayplayer.com out of over 5,000 contestants to appear on the Okayplayer Records compilation. His song entitled “The Williams” received critical praise as one of the standout tracks on the album and hip hop heads worldwide began noticing Supa and his knack for making honest music that the average person could relate to.''

Rise

http://www.zshare.net/audio/supastition-rise-mp3.html
Name: Strange Fruit Project

Albums: Soul Travelin (2004), From Divine (2004) & The Healing (2006)

''Myone, Myth and Symbolyc One (S1) are Strange Fruit Project. Three emcees who continue to set trends as not your typical southern hip-hop group, all hail from Waco, Texas.

Each member of Strange Fruit Project sings, raps and is influenced by the constant journey of everyday life. The group has made a huge impact in a short period of time. Through innovative production and creative lyrics their music separates them from many independent artists. Strange's 2004 release, Soul Travelin, was an underground beat banging collector's item which included hip-hop and soul at the root of its origin. Highlights from Soul Travelin; included the singles "Luv Is", "Eternally Yours" and "All The Way". The single "All The Way" was nominated by BBC Radio for 2004 Song of the Year. During 2005, Strange Fruit released the single, "Milk", with world famous emcee Ghostface Killah, produced by S1. This single topped the CMJ college radio charts in July and August of 2005. S1 continued to receive praise in 2005 and on into 2006 due to his producer album with fellow producer Illmind, The Art of Onemind.''

You The Only Ones

http://www.zshare.net/audio/strange-fruit-project-you-the-only-ones-mp3.html
Name: Cuninlynguists

Albums: Will Rap For Food (2001), Southern Underground (2003) & A Piece Of Strange (2006)

''CunninLynguists, the multifaceted duo from the Dirty South, aim to make music that reminds listeners why they started to enjoy hip-hop in the first place. Backed with gritty beats, quality rhymes and low ends that jump out the trunk like Rae Carruth, the 'Lynguists intend on recapturing the soul in southern hip-hop. With what Spin Magazine calls "Outkast's tragicomic poignancy", Deacon The Villain and Kno follow in the footsteps of artists like Goodie Mob, Witchdocter, Ya'll So Stupid, Geto Boys and the aforementioned 'Kast, as well as recent southern indie artists such as Little Brother, in painting a picture meant to remind the world that politics, death, racism, relationships, religion and struggle are just as relevant to life below the Mason-Dixon as anywhere else.''

Most self respecting fans of Southern hip hop have heard of Cunninlynguists. The ones who haven't either suffer from impaired senses or just misspell the group's name.
