Why is it that a child of 3 cannot add 2 and 2, the child can't even understand it, yet it can construct much more complex sentences 'im going outside to ride my back'.

Where did this imprint come from!

well, if they say that they're gonna ride their back, then don't worry about how complex it is, just laugh at them.
 
I think it might be because the child communicates with people around him on a daily baises, which he gains more knowledge of the english language by doing so, which might be the reason why he can develop complex setences easier then solving math problems..
