Bakersfield California - A Bakersfield man continued to recover from gun shot wounds at Kern Medical Center Friday.

Family members said he was shot 13 times last week while hanging out with his best friend outside a local night club.

The family of 25-year-old Terry Wright Jr. said he worked two jobs and was supposed to start a third job this week and he had no time for gangs.

They said Wright’s best friend, 23-year-old Alvin Bivens, stayed out of trouble as well. Bivens was shot once in the head across from La Movida night club just off Union Avenue.

The boys’ mothers, Sandra Bivens and Carol Wright-Patterson, said they are still in shock nearly a week after the shooting.

“I wake up and I think, ‘OK, it was a bad dream, it really didn't happen,’” said Wright-Patterson.

But it did.

“We never expected anything like this,” she said. “Had my child been out there gang banging and selling drugs or something, I would have kind of been prepared.”

According to police, Wright and Bivens were in the parking lot across from the night club on 18th and Union Streets when shots were fired early Saturday morning.

Police said they believe two men are responsible for the shooting, but they need the community’s help to find them.

“A lot of times these crimes happen and officers are not there,” said Det. Jorge Gomez from the Bakersfield Police Department. “The community is present during these crimes and they're the ones that actually see and are our best witnesses.”

“I do not understand why that happened because Alvin and Terry are not affiliated with any gangs,” said Sandra Bivens.

But family members believe the intended target was an acquaintance who asked Wright and Bivens for a ride that night.

“It looks like these people just turned the gun on him after they couldn't get who they wanted,” said Wright-Patterson. “I don't get that.”

Wright suffered wounds to his liver, upper thigh, and arm. He remained in KMC’s ICU Friday. Bivens returned home, but is recovering from a gunshot wound to the head.

No shit Sherlock.

So this Bivens dude is everything Suge claimed to be for a minute? lol

Unlucky shit though.

And working 3 jobs, the "13 times & still breathing" dude must've been needing some cash fast - guess that plan's out the window.

I'd like to see this shooter & the dude who shot 50 on a one-off reality TV show. Make it like an old Wild West duel with them taking ten paces then turning & shooting. Better have extra ammo & seats at the ready though because it's probably going to be one long ass night.
