yeah, it's just that personally I'm not into bootlegging software. I like my operating system to be original, especially if it's for free anyway

.i think that's what it is.masta, let me school you on something.
Most likely, carmi doesn't get to download at no charge for the same reason that I don't get to download at no charge at my university. We're not enrolled in IT-related coursework. I could have downloaded it if it was offered for free in the spring when I was taking information systems and ops mgmt courses but not now. You're different because your entire school is an IT school, right? Here and most likely at carmi's university, IT/computer science are just one or two depts out of plenty.
i agree for original OS.yeah, it's just that personally I'm not into bootlegging software. I like my operating system to be original, especially if it's for free anyway.
but i have a question, so now RTM is the retail version right? so how come some people have it already, is it original or bootleg? i thought it was only out as of october. i don't see the point of installing the RC (as my friend suggested me to do) as the retail version is out soon. i figure i might as well buy it and get rid of vista asap.
No, you have to buy a Family pack to be able to install it on more than one PC:

However I've read that it's quite confusing and crazy.. 119$ is the upgrade if you already have Vista installed lol They didn't even mention that on their official site.
Here's the version you have to buy if you want to install from the start without having Vista:
