Despite missing the red carpet due to a delayed flight, there was one thing on April 12th that Snoop was not dropping like it was hot - the award for best hip-hop video which he picked up at the MTV’s Australian Video Music Awards.
Snoop accepted the award with humility, simply saying “Thank you. I love ya’ll like ya’ll love me.”
Snoop was the most popular artist of the evening, frequently receiving extended applause and cheers from the crowd. Despite rumors circulating throughout the day that Snoop was set to perform at the event, he did not take to the stage which left fans disappointed.
Kanye West was also nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Male Artist and Song of the Year, but lost out to Snoop, Australian Idol runner-up Shannon Noll and James Blunt respectively.
The Gorillaz were nominated twice, but were not selected for an award. Meanwhile Chris Brown beat Mariah Carey, Mario, Pussycat Dolls and Jade Mcrae for Best R&B Video. The final list of winners is as follows:

Best R&B Video: Chris Brown
Best Rock Video: The Darkness
Best Group: Green Day
Album of the Year: Bernard Fanning (of Powderfinger)
Best New Artist: The Veronicas
