A private Las Vegas party that was to feature headline act Snoop Dogg was canceled this week due to growing anti-rap sentiment among Nevada authorities.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Snoop was booked to host an event held by Molson Coors Brewing at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. But the hotel’s parent company, Harrah’s Entertainment, requested that Coors cancel the show amidst pressure from local authorities and Nevada’s Gaming Control Board, sources tell the paper.

The heat came from both Sheriff Bill Young of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, who recently sent a letter to state gambling regulators asking that they discourage casinos from booking rap acts; and Nevada's State Gaming Control Board, which is leery of "gangster rap" following the deaths of four local rappers last June and the recent murder of a police officer by an aspiring Las Vegas rapper.

The Wall Street Journal quotes sources who say Snoop would have pocketed about $150,000 for the gig.

Big Snoop!! He needs to get back on Dre's sac and make an album.
Hehe! I agree with dat, cause his best moments r with dre, even if dre would never do another album like The Chronic.
Besides of dat, bout the topic i feel they r fools, dat will never stop violence, it's only a evidence of ignorance... But it's from the police, sheriff what more is to expect...?

I dont understand why they doin this to Snoop and I figure this will only encourage more of the same for other rappers, but it seems to me Vegas has a problem with the home-grown rappers not the out-of-towners.
